"Don’t go here if you can help it. The Dean keeps changing and although the current one will converse with you, he couldn’t give a care at all if you finish in a timely manner. Forget how to pay for it or balance work. If you can’t do a full time track while working, go somewhere else. But if you could go full time spend your money on a place with recognition."

"I loved this college. Small classes, and rural setting. It's beautiful. If you are a psychology major it has even more history as some of the buildings used to reside psychiatric patients. I had some amazing teachers, and some not so great teachers, but such is life anywhere you go. My overall experience was excellent!"

"The campus is small and the class sizes are the same as in high school. It is easy to contact professors without any issues. There is easy access to online databases as well as able to borrow electronics. The school provides students with many support services."

"This is a very small, close knit college. There are no sports or sororities or anything like that, so if that is what you are looking for, this school is not for you, But if you are looking for small classes, professors who actually love their job and a whole campus who is willing to help you out, this school is for you. I loved it!"

"I really loved my time at CI. The small class sizes really made for deep relationships with peers and professors. The campus is amazing and they're growing by leaps and bounds every year. I feel very proud to have graduated from such an outstanding school."

"This school provides a private school feel with the connections of a larger university. The faculty for the most part are excellent and want to do everything in their power to help students thrive. I made lifelong friends with my professors and they have been extremely supportive of my chosen career path and have helped me through encouragement and words of wisdom."

"I feel a pro to my program is that it is cost effective (not to expensive to attend). I think a con to my program is that students don't have much of a say on where their student teaching placement will be."

"I'm in a pre requisites teaching credential certification program. Though this is considered a non degree program ,it’s a graduate program because students must have their bachelors completed in order to qualify for teaching credential program. I have my bachelors and going to this university on campus as a second school. It’s part of my graduate studies as I plan to get my teaching credentials in social sciences by end of fall 2015 semester. I'm currently enrolled in a full time Masters Graduate program at University of Phoenix Online. Relating this information back to the pros and con of this program at Ch. Islands. The reason being that I cannot qualify for financial compensation of any sort for this institution. Due to reasoning of me being a student for two universities. I have had to fork out up to almost 3000 dollars for my classes at this University and paid in full. The transportation I have chosen is taking 3 buses to get to this campus as I cannot afford a car to drive or commute the distance from where I live to the campus. However this school offers a great education system for upcoming students wanting to become teachers. The program is rigorous but offers stability with a good faculty. The pros, I'm getting a good education to achieve my state California license in the future for teaching. The con's the financial stability to pay my tuition and to get to the school is becoming harder to pay for. Considering this is considered a second academic institution I have chosen to attend that I have to pay out of pocket for any form of financial debts."

"I greatly enjoyed my experience at California State University- Channel Islands. I transferred from another CSU school and the admissions office made the transition very smooth. The school has an excellent faculty and administrations team. I appreciated the small class sizes, the availability of the professors, and the accessibility of resources. Plus the campus is beautiful. I highly recommend this hidden gem of a CSU school."
