"I have been through 3 grad programs, this would be the worst I experienced because of the general lack of support."

"The faculty are generally good, knowledgable, and provide feedback in a timely manner. The administration took some time getting use to as they were not initially at the same level as the staff. I understand my program is relatively new and some things needed working out; however, because of some set backs for them, I suffered setbacks. I spoke to the VP of student services at a conference about this, in which he told me to send him an email with my perspective. I sent the email and never heard back from him. I am not sure what happened to the email or if he chose not to respond. I feel as though since the new program coordinator was hired many things have become better, however, the program still has a long way to go in comparison to the two other grad programs I have been in."

"I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Humanities in the Humanites External Degree (HUX) Program. I love the program for several reasons. First, it is extremely affordable for the quality of the program. The school is a four-year accredited university and the coursework is challenging. Second, the entire degree program can be done online or even by postal mail (!) You don't even need a computer, only a reliable mailing address anywhere in the world. Third, the faculty is diverse, fully qualified, and responsive. This is a real Master's degree from a real school that you can get from the comfort of your living room, while structuring your study schedule around work and home life. Great for working adults and/or parents. You can concentrate in one of five disciplines or take an interdisciplinary approach. You must love to read and write!"

"CSUDH has been labeled poorly, but it is actually a very nice and quiet school. The teachers are there because they genuinely want to be and care about the subjects they are teaching, at least in my experience in the Linguistics program. The programs at the school are generally smaller than at other CSU's, but I find that by having fewer professors and getting to know them more intimately I will have a better connection on which to fall back when I apply to a PhD program. All in all in this a great school and the facilities, such as its huge library, support the student body and promote self-motivation and research."

"I am currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Humanities (HUX) program with California State University (DH). I love the program I am in because I can do it entirely online, and they don't rely heavily on discussion boards which I find tedious and not useful, personally. I also love the instructors-- they are very qualified for the subject matter they teach unlike some other online programs out there. I cannot give any details on the campus life, but I've heard the campus is a little rough due to the area. The costs are very reasonable as well, and the financial aid office is helpful. Overall, if you love the humanities and want to expand your education around that, then I would recommend this program."

"CSUDH is a very progressive and innovative university. I designed and presented my unique interdisciplinary program to the university which it was approved in 2011. It is a groundbreaking course of study with no real precedent. The pros included the ability to add something new while building on the existing educational framework. The cons included the struggle to break ground on something so new."

"The coursework has so far been mediocre. I do not feel I am learning anything significant for my academic goals. The staff in the Financial Aid office and Humanities department are very short in conversation, and often interrupt to answer a question, though the question has not fully been asked and thus their answer is often not sufficient. One advisor told me that she would not help me off from the "ledge" when I had become so upset over their inability to communicate between departments that I had began to cry. I was forced to be the middle man between departments, having to explain what each wanted the other to know- instead of contacting each other directly. The faculty do not provide sufficient feedback and in general return assignments very late, causing future due assignments to have be written without constructive feedback. There are no other regionally accredited Universities in the States that offer this particular degree online and therefore I am "stuck" with this program."
