"I came to CSULB nearly burnt out of mathematics; here I found professors that mentored their students through the program; as a student wanting to go on into a PhD, I found several professors more than willing to help. I got one on one help at office hours many times, and found my classmates to be of a very high caliber mathematically. We were constantly discussing, and even ran our own graduate student seminar in geometric-topology. This place is a hidden gem, and will always be special in my heart. Go Beach!"

"Located near the beautiful beaches of California is csulb. The school as a whole has a very friendly atmosphere with the feeling that everyone is ready to help. The faculty in my math department were like family and were always available with any question or problem that I encountered. Class sizes for graduate classes were no more than 30. This gave each student plenty of time to have one on one conversations with the professor. There multitudes of activities available in the school in your down time, including movie theatre, bowling alley and pool tables. If you are looking for a school with a strong friendly staff with small class sizes I definitely recommend CSULB."

"Pros - beautiful campus and youre right next to the beach. The weather is steady and you can always find something fun to do. It is very competitive but then again, I am in graduate school so everybody already received their BS in Pure Mathematics so, by default, everybody is serious about their education. As for the undergraduate competitiveness, I don't know. Overall, long beach state Is awesome."

"Its a program that takes a lot of time for each individual class which makes it longer than other grad programs. I just started; this is my first semester at CSULB and its a totally different atmosphere that UC Berkeley, where I earned my bachelor's degree."

"I love math and that's why I decided to go beyond my bachelors of science but the oct of education definitely hinders, not only my own, but many other's opportunity to attend graduate school. Although, I am fortunate enough to continue, working and being a full-time student gets extremely stressful. Luckily, such a beautiful/scenic campus helps relax me!"
