"Hello, am currently working on my Masters in Counseling and Guidance at Cal State San Bernardino. It is a wonderful program, the classes are very interesting and are very informative on what as counselors we might experience once we have our degree. As well the professors are all very knowledgeable and helpful and easy to get a hold of. The program is organized into cohorts, which is nice because it helps students develop support groups within the program, that way you do not feel like you are experiencing this big journey all alone. I would definitely recommend this program to anybody interested in pursing a degree in counseling."

"I love that within our graduate program, we are not restricted to one form of art expression and implementation of ourselves within the community. It is great that it is an interdisciplinary program, and we can choose to gear more toward a personal artistic career, or work with the community in art enrichment. In San Bernardino, education is a lot more affordable that other places, we have an incredible selection of staff and networking opportunities. We also have adequate access to equipment depending on what areas we want to concentrate in. Unfortunately, we have had some issues with safety on campus, which is a significant concern."

"First year at this school, happy with the program, great instructors, great campus, plenty of parking, faculty is always available, super fast responses, but lots of homework. :) Don't see much patrolling security or police cars or officers, so not sure about the safety. Chose this university over CalPoly Pomona, because of the most terrible faculty and because of a very slow process, that takes ages and ages."

"I think this graduate program is awesome. The faculty is top notch, very supportive and have a passion for what they do. I think it would be nice to incorporate a little more technology into the program, but overall, it's great."

"CSUSB is a great school with a large amount of diversity and programs that encourage student development and socialization. While I was completing my undergraduate degree I never really have any unfair treatment, the whole university wants you to succeed. All of the tools such a job fairs, to tutoring, even concerts for student enjoyment are there to allow student growth."

"This is a great campus if you are looking to attend school and work full-time or part-time. I have had a job my whole college career and sometimes at certain campuses it is hard to work and go to school, not at Cal State San Bernardino. There are class times offered in the early mornings and late evenings. This school is also a very clean and beautiful school. If you have down time in between classes, walking around the campus or going down to the athletic fields is always a nice breather and relaxing. The staff here on campus are available and are willing to help as much as they can. Professors make themselves available to your needs and help you with questions about the course, etc. I would recommend this college to those who are not quite sure what they want to major in but want to get done in 4 years. This is the way to go!"

  • Degree: Public Health
"Public Health is a wide field and is increasingly important especially today with people suffering from chronic illnesses like Diabetes and Heart Diseases which with education and creating awareness can be prevented/better managed. The pros of this program is creating the awareness within the students as well as creating the workforce that is crucial today. The Cons of this program is hospitals and other healthcare facilities only want to hire Nurses and Doctors with a masters in Public Health. Graduates from this program are people who are dedicated in this field and are compassionate and know what it takes to help people understand the value of over good health and they do not need to be a Doctor or a Nurse in order to spread the awareness. It is their passion for helping people that led them to choose this field."

  • Degree: Anthropology
"My graduate program in Cal State San Bernardino is very helpful their is always someone or some thing available to assist you in your endeavors. There are always professors available to explain class assignments, scholarships, internships and even possible employment in our fields. The only draw back to this program is that we do not necessarily have all of the tools to assist us in our research, being that I am interested in Anthropology, and during my undergrad within this university most of our labs did not have the tools needed to instruct us properly in archaeology . Most of this had to be found through outside sources such as internships and field schools. The school in general has much to offer in means of diversity, safety, transportation ,etc .There is a bus stop right in front of the school so if need be that we want to adventure out into the city that resource is available, there is 24 hour security/ campus police hotline available for students is something were to happen, and all of the dormitories make it so that students have the ability to interact with other students from different cultures, and in most cases countries. The surrounding area in San Bernardino is also lacking in student friendly areas, the only areas that have attractions for nightlife or a place for student and the younger generation to congregate are in other cities such as Ontario, Riverside, and Redlands. The graduate program in general is superb there are always professor's to assist students and the instruction is nothing short of excellent, it is just in certain areas such as labs in the social behavioral sciences that is lacking."

"Some of the benefits of the counseling and guidance program here in San Bernardino is that all of the classes are offered here locally and the way the class schedule is set up is great because it allows students to work during the mornings and attend school in the evenings. Another great benefit of this program is that most of the staff are currently working in fields that are related to counseling and guidance, most of the staff work as counselors at community colleges and local high schools. One disadvantage of this program is that most classes are about three and a half hours long which can be pretty longs for most students. Overall the counseling and guidance graduate program at CSUSB is pretty cost efficient and a great program overall."

"The faculty and teacher of my program are great. They are very accessible and helpful! I love the program and I am so happy that I chose this school. San Bernardino may not be the most desirable city to live in but most students are commuter students. It is affordable and good quality education."

"The pros of the MSW program at CSUSB is that it is a community of educators and students that become your family. This community wants all of the students to succeed in their goals. The staff and students are very helpful. The MSW program provides quality teachers and tools to help you through the program. They also have great orientations and meetings before the program starts to offer advice or any help you may need. I am excited to finish the program from an excellent quality education institution that cares about each person."

"The pros of my graduate program are that it encompasses the TESL certificate along with the masters in English Composition. The cons are that there are no summer courses offered in my department to take and accelerate my graduation date. Another major con is having Professor S. as a part of the Linguistics course because students are having to teach themselves without any professorial direction when taking any course that she accepts to be the "expert" in."

"CSUSB MS in Clinical Counseling is a well established program with excellent professors. The professors know the subject, have years of teaching experience and an excitement for the field. The specific program I am in has a heavy schedule that makes it difficult to hold down a full time job while attending the program. This can be a serious downfall for many older students. But I believe the quality of the program more than makes up for the inconvenience."

All classes are at night from 6 to 10p allowing working people to get their graduate degree. CONS: As a Grad Student, you are only offered unsubsidized loans and no grants or scholarships unless you join honor societies."

"CSUSB is close and convenient. So far, the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. It is one of the best schools around for a master of social work degree. Enrollment is relatively easy, and admissions and other staff are friendly, available, and easy to reach by phone."

"There are a lot good qualities about the graduate program. You learn how to do research right off the bat and learn how to develop your ideas independently. The hard thing is the economy has impacted the available classes for grad students as well as financial aid. On another good not you get quite a bit of of teaching experience, which allow you to transition into teaching when entering a PhD program and the work force."
