"The pros are the staff willingness to help students to succeed, focusing on their strengths and working to improve their weakness. The cons is not enough available financial aids, assistance with tuition (discount for federal employees)."

"Clark Atlanta University is a very reputable school and it is located in the great city of Atlanta, Ga and those are definitely pros. It has the program of study that I am interested in which is personal advantage. One con is that some semesters there are not an ample amount of classes being offered. In addition, more professors and support staff are needed in the university."

"When it comes to the degree of supportive from the faculty and staff, I can feel their full support. The faculty work with you or show you alternatives to resolve any issues that the students may be confronted with whether with classwork, financial aid assistants, or personal issues. The quality of the education is a PLUS, because the professors make sure that the students can compete with other top level graduate schools in order to increase the students competitiveness in the workforce. The only con would be that the school is located in a urban community, and the surroundings are not that safe. But it is 3-5 minutes away from downtown Atlanta, which can be excited for out of state students such as I."

"I love my program but I do not like the fact that graduate students have to share a dorm room with undergraduates. The work that we do is very challenging and having to share a room with kids with loud music makes it hard to study. We pay $812 per credit hour."

"Clark Atlanta has extraordinary teachers that provide a wealth of knowledge and skills for the students. However, Clark is a private school and is extremely expensive compared to other schools."

"Clark Atlanta University is a great school. When you call you will be able to speak to someone verses other HBU. I like how the professors care about their students. One major con that I have about the college is that they do not give enough money to pay for your classes if you are full time. Other than than, this is a GREAT school."

"This is a institution rich in heritage and it exudes in every activity and event. However, there are still some areas that can be improved upon including interaction between Student Services (accounts, financial aid, etc) and student body."

"What I enjoy most about the Whitney M. Young Jr. School of Social Work at Clark Atlanta University is the rich history that it is built on. From the moment you step into a classroom at Clark Atlanta you learn about the many men and women who have paved the way before you. I most definitely appreciate that fact that many of the professors are themselves graduates from Clark Atlanta University and have a sincere investment in the programs integrity and the students who are enrolled. The cons to the School of Social Work at Clark Atlanta University are no different from any other social work program which unfortunately to some extent out of the University's control due to the requirements set by our accrediting body the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE). Due to the internship requirements and work load suggested to complete the program in two years, working is almost impossible and there is only so much financial aid one can acquire to maintain a full year's worth of living expenses. Besides those minor issues, I am proud to be a Panther and most definitely proud that my MSW degree will be awarded from Clark Atlanta University!."

"Pros--Extensive knowledge based surrounding the discipline of African-American Studies and Africana Women's Studies. My professors teach us to analyze and not summarize when it comes to conducting research and submitting papers. There is alot of research within our discipline in the library that allows theses, dissertations, and projects to be done effectively. Cons--There is not enough funding for graduate students in our department. There are no official graduate assistantship or teacher assistantship positions since our program are allocated a lower amount of funding from the school. There are some structural issues with the department. For example, people are often confused about who their advisors are and often don't get the help they need especially when they are working on pushing their dissertation/theses to the deadlines that are required. Seems to be a lack of initiative to help students find employment after they graduate which I feel is critical in an ever-changing economy."

"The graduate program is excellent. The overall curriculum and requirements can be a bit challenging but it is worth it in the end. The cons would be that the program doesn't really seem to cater to the evening Graduate students. It is harder to reach your adviser in the evening and each year we have to meet with an adviser to receive a registration pin to register for the upcoming academic year instead of just going in and registering for classes which I feel is a bit silly. I love that the school is next to both Spelman and Moorehouse College! I do not like the parking. The school makes you pay to park in the Parking garage which I feel isn't fair since the tuition here is expensive. There should be better parking for students and more lit areas."

"Clark Atlanta University Graduate Program of Social Work is of the best programs academically in the state of Georgia. There are so many great attributes of attending Clark Atlanta, although, there are a few that can be improved upon as well. Students and professors shape and mold a university into what makes it standout and become individualized among other institutions. Clark Atlanta professors are dedicated to teaching and helping students at all time. There is continuous encouragement and dedication on the behalf of professors to meet students where they are academically. Professors take time to explain and demonstrate concepts and chapters before test and final exams. There is also continuous follow ups after receiving appropriate acceptance for internships and jobs based on specialty, which are only a few of the cons of attending Clark Atlanta University. Attending Clark Atlanta is not only a privilege but an honor. History has been made through the lives of so many at Clark Atlanta. Walking the campus not only reminds you of the past but also of what can be improved. The Social Work program is excellent, but classrooms deserves to be just as lush in resources and technology as other academic programs. Providing air condition/heat at night for students would be helpful for students to avoid distractions. These are a few cons that can be improved quickly and with the appropriate resources. Resources to improve a campus are just some of the important assets need to improve a campus. Clark Atlanta University is a great institutions, and like all institutions it has pros and cons. Although, the education at Clark Atlanta is unlike any other institution, which is definitely not con but a pro for many students. Priceless."

"I really enjoyed the Educational Leadership and Administration program and felt that I got a great value. My professors were very knowledgeable and well connected to the education community. They were always accessible and willing to help with anything from course selections to financial aid. The campus is easy to navigate and auxiliary staff were kind and accomodating. Overall, I had a great experience and feel well prepared for a career in educational leadership."

"I love Clark Atlanta. It has only been my first semester and I love it. You get to know your classmates and professors very quickly. The course load can be trying since you have five classes but it is manageable. I had my car transported out here, but I here that they have a great bus line. Great atmosphere for social events and exploring. Lots of major companies have their headquarters in Atlanta, such as Coca Cola. Due to the location of the school being surrounded my low-income housing there as been a few security issues, especially near the holiday season."

"I love the Graduate program at Clark Atlanta University. The pros are that they provide day and evening classes for the working student. This program also provides many resources available to students to help them in their future career as a Social Worker such as internships, and involvement with organizations such as NASW (National Association of Social Workers). The cons is the availability of parking . There is a parking garage but students have to pay to park , and the other con is the cost. This is a private institution so it is more expensive than most but it is a great program overall. If you plan to live on campus, you will definitely need other means to pay for college in addition to Financial Aid because it is so expensive."
