"I am tired of all the complaining heard about this institution. I graduated with a BS in Criminal Justice and now an MS in Criminal Justice. This University is not the place for you if you need support, or your hand being held through the whole process. There are many cheap non-for-profit educational institutions for this purpose. I consider myself highly educated and anyone that thinks differently of me, the institution I attended, or otherwise is just trying to blow off steam and does not understand the sacrifices it takes to be a good college student. If you fit in one of the categories of students that is disgruntled, or did not graduate, and decide to post completely negative reviews please take a look at how you got in the situation in the first place. I am not saying CTU was perfect, but this institution has the best platform for students to work with and no blackboard garbage like the majority of non-for-profits that do not cater to online students. If you get admitted here, you will gain too much knowledge and be on the best platform/user interface an online education has to offer. CTU has also won a Computer World 2009 award for the Virtual Campus. The worst part of being with CTU was the fact that the majority of staff working online and on-campus do not get paid to support students. This is evident in the graduation rate, which is only 24%. I was running out of financial aid in my undergraduate degree and was told I owed about 7000 dollars. I was put on payment plans until I realized I could be full-time, which made me eligible for a full 5645 dollars in pell grants. I was only able to finish due to my own ingenuity. If I had to depend on CTU to inform me of this minor detail, I would still owe the University far into paying back the student loans. All prospective students of any higher educational institution should be aware of the risks, which is not the Universities problem, or priority. It is also true that for-profit is definitely being treated as a customer first and student second. I regret to say this is the truth with any online program. Every online naysayer needs to be aware that over 85% of colleges and universities offer 100% online degree programs and are also in it for-profit. The only difference between for-profit and non-for-profit educational institutions is the fact that for-profit schools have less regulations on where they can use the money. A for-profit can make massive advertisements on television using student’s money. A non-for-profit receives most of the funding to operate from the state, so the money earned must be put back into the institution in some regards through improvement of facilities, or more qualified teaching staff.Read Less"

"Did CTU's Online Master Degree, program. It had a self-paced program, which allowed to be flexible; just make sure you turn in your assignment at the deadline for the week. Professors interfaced pretty well with the students and we can send messages, email and request to professors and get a fairly quick response within a 24hr time period. Post-graduation of the program they also provide a career finder program that's related to the degree you finished. Counselors were very helpful and helped with many questions and/or challenges you may face.Read Less"

"I loved the possibility of hybrid instruction. Some classes were 100% online, some were 100% on campus and some were partly online and partly on campus. I've seen some reviews of for-profit universities saying that courses were too easy because the corporations didn't want to drive away their students - I would absolutely NOT agree to that being the case at CTU. The classes were challenging (and I have an above-average IQ) but not so challenging that I got frustrated and wanted to quit. And when I hit a snag nearly all of my professors were delighted to provide help (I had ONE problem professor in four years). When I encountered personal problems during one quarter that necessitated me dropping out of the classes ONLY FOR THAT QUARTER and re-enrolling in the same ones the following quarter - the school was more than willing to work with me. Of course, I had to prove that I had good cause and wasn't just being lazy, but once they saw the circumstances they did everything they could to help me be successful in getting back on track. Another great quality about this school is that it's geared toward adult learners. They absolutely understand what it's like to work and go to school at the same time - this doesn't mean that they let you slide, but they are reasonable in deadlines and workloads. Within five years of graduating with my Bachelor's I DOUBLED my annual income. I'm absolutely considering going back for my MBA with a concentration in IT. I hear that doesn't influence your income so much but it will open additional doors in my career.Read Less"

"The doctoral program is rigorous but designed to be workable as a working adult. The instructors are knowledgeable and helpful. The program is designed to help the student work towards the dissertation as they learn technical coursework and research skills. I have heard some of my peers complain that most of their work in their doctoral program is doing someone else's research. That is not the case here. You are focused on your own advancement and study and no the professor's publication list. The professors are very encouraging about publishing and work with you to better understand the process.Read Less"

"I am currently attending CTU-online and majoring in Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice. So far, I am pleased with my experience in the virtual campus. I definitely appreciate the flexibility and convenience of taking online courses. I really enjoy the live chats, I find them to be very informative and helpful. I also find that the instructors are very knowledgeable and I appreciate the fact that they incorporate their personal experiences within that particular career field that they are teaching us about. CTU's online campus provides a lot of great and useful resources. Instructors respond fairly quickly to emails and my student advisor checks up on me pretty often. One thing I really liked about CTU is the accelerated programs that they offer, meaning faster graduation. Also, they offer this new program called 'CTU FastTrack' which basically let's you drop classes in one week that you already have previous knowledge in, and still able to earn full credit. It is awesome because it not only cuts down on time but expenses as well. One thing that I have noticed is that it doesn't take much to excel in this school. The instructors grade fairly well, and basically if you make the effort to complete all assignments on time you will most likely receive good grades. The only bad thing I can think of is my experience with CTU's financial aid department. It took me about 3 months to set up my financial aid due to a lot of frustrating problems with communication and delivery. I must've had to resubmit important documents, including tax information, ssn card, etc. at least five different times because somehow it got lost in the mail, didn't reach the department, or one of the financial aid advisors gave me the wrong mailing address. So I am constantly calling them to see if they have received my documents. But even if they have received the documents, they take FOREVER to review them. One thing about the financial aid department is you have to constantly call them to check the status of your financial aid, if not there may be issues that need to be resolved and you will never know about it because the communication is terrible with these guys and they'll never contact you about it. Other than the terrible financial aid department, my overall experience with CTU is satisfying.Read Less"

"My program was entirely online, so some of these categories are difficult to measure. My overall experience was okay, but my ability to find gainful employment was difficult to accomplish following my program. I've had other colleagues attend MBA programs and have gainful employment and internships while attending their programs. I was disappointed that more options weren't presented to me following this pursuit of my MBA."

"Pros - This online degree program from CTU provides me with skills ranging from accounting, managerial finance, and marketing to project management and critical thinking that are essential in planning, organizing, controlling and managing business processes, strategies and human resource capital in an organization or as a business owner/entrepreneur. Cons - Learning “online” is very convenient in terms of time and flexibility to work around the schedule of the busy and rigors of everyday life (family, work, hobbies, chores, etc.); however I believe I learn better, and would much rather be in a classroom setting.Read Less"

"The pros about Colorado Technical University are that the Professors' or instructors record their lectures so you can go back and listen to it if you miss class because of work or anything that prohibit you from making the lecture time slot. The classes are not that long. It is only 5 1/2 weeks long. They give real life scenarios for the homework and individual project. They teach you how to work in groups to accomplish a goal. You get a lot of practice using APA format. The professor or instructor made themselves available to you at all times. The cons are not everyone wanted to work in a group to do group projects.Read Less"

"I feel that the pros of my graduate program are that I am almost completed with my degree, graduating the top of my class, with a G.P.A. 3.87. The pros are it taught me how to write APA style with all of my papers. It enlighten me on a lot of laws and changes to the laws that I was unaware of. I can chose to work in the Business Administration field or I can use my concentration to work in the field of Human Resource Management. The web site was user friendly and easy to navigate through. The classes were only 5 1/2 weeks long. I was able to coordinate my work schedule around the professors' lectures. They were archive. The cons are not all professors were able to be understood because of the language barrier (accent).Read Less"
