"The BBS program's field of Immunology & Infectious disease has a good curriculum and a diversity of research interests within it's faculty to rotate through. I never feel lost in a crowd here, everyone in the Micro & Immunology department is friendly and faculty, post-docs, technicians and students generally know each other and get together at the end of the day on Fridays for a social hour with beer and snacks hosted by a different lab every week. In the first year of the program here, a required course that mainly focuses on grant writing provides essential practical skills for any researcher."

The only shortcoming is the location which is too far away from big cities which may be hard to access much job opportunities. But you have to admit that the view is amazing and a stress reliever."

"The graduate program is excellent in rigor and research and accessibility. However, Ithaca is not easy to fly in and out of, which makes traveling more difficult."

"The Cornell philosophy department is a great one to be a part of. We have access to top notch, highly supportive professors. Our department is big enough to cover and have strengths in a wide variety of areas of philosophy and student interests, but small enough to have an overall very cohesive community. Everyone knows each other and people do a good job looking after each other. Our funding is quite good relative to other programs, and while rent is surprisingly high here, the money we get goes much further than it would in a larger city. Ithaca is a small town in a very natural area; outdoorsy people will relish the many hiking opportunities available. There are also a lot of restaurants and shops for a town this size. At the same time, it is rather difficult to travel out of here, and we have to contend with very harsh winters."

"We have more classes to choose from then time to complete our program. Amazing opportunities and amazing faculty. The other students make this program SO fun as we are always doing social events together and helping each other out in classes. Everyone gets a great paying job and the network is incredible. Ithaca is very expensive and there isn't much to do in the surrounding area. There has been a bit of violence/deaths lately here."
