"Great surrounding area. Ithaca is beautiful, has a small-town feel, and provides much to do. Great transportation system. -Great school. Promotes collaboration and teamwork over cutthroat competition. Phenomenal instruction and academics. -Good career support. The winter's areharsher than some other schools. -Not the largest network in the world, but network is supportive and active. -Workload is heavy at times, but I wanted a good education so that goes with the territory."

"The program is extremely flexible and whatever you'd like to specialize in the school makes available to you. The downside is that it is in Ithaca which is pretty much a college town. Getting past that is easily the biggest down side of the program. You can make the program what you so therefore if you select this you have to be ready to apply yourself."

"The courses at Cornell are really flexible, and there are so many choices and opportunities on campus. The professors are very supportive and patient to students. We have call to action and town hall meeting every year, which is the opportunity for students to talk to faculties how we think about the program, and what we want for the program. The faculties really listened to our opinion. They hire more land use and urban design professor this year, and set up urban design semester in NYC this year, all because we- the students want them. However, the location of the campus is so far away from large cities, which is one concern for me."

"They still do a c***** job of making sure that enough good classes are offered in the spring. Every single practicum is offered only in the fall. Annoying if you're only in a one year program."

"Pros, getting your foot in the door at CIPA before it becomes it's own school will allow you smaller competitiveness, all the academic resources of Cornell, and some seriously quick degree appreciation. We partner with the Maxwell School for a spring conference. There are tons of ways to get involved in leadership positions in the program. The diversity is incredible. Cons, Ithaca is nice, but it is the middle of nowhere. Getting to places where there are internships and not having that natural network is the biggest drawback when compared to programs like Columbia, American, and Georgetown. The decentralization of class selection is frustrating, even though it provides great variety."

"Ithaca is a small town with not much to do in the winter. However, this doesn't matter because you will not have a whole lot of time to go out anyway. The professors really care about their subjects and about teaching them, not just about publishing. While the environment is competitive, people are not malicious. It's a small enough school that what goes around comes around, and most people seem to understand this."

"I'm an LLM student. Pros: There are a lot of job openings once you finish this course and it's well structured. Besides, there's a lot of flexibility and you can select your own courses. Cons: It's too expensive and for the international students, taking classes with the regular JD students can be daunting since some Professors do not necessarily make special accommodations for international students in their classes"

"Cornell Economics: Department strengths are labor, health econ, economics of education, behavioral, development, micro theory. Quality of professors varies by sub-field, though I can say health economists are excellent to work with and very supportive. Funding is generally very good, and living costs in Ithaca are lower than in most big cities, so the stipend goes pretty far. Students studying labor or health typically place well. Weaknesses: Some of the professors teaching the first year theory courses are not particular good teachers. Students in the department are not very social. Ithaca is pretty isolated and hard to get to from major cities. Cold, long winters (though spring and summer are beautiful)."

"The department is expanding through some aggressive fund raising. Expect to see the department rise in the rankings soon. Strengths: Micro Theory (especially networks), Econometrics (especially structural), Behavioural, Development. Weaknesses: Macro. Also can take advantage of top 2 computer science department. The student atmosphere is collaborative rather than cut throat."
