"The pros of my program are for one, it is small so professor to student attention is very high. Everybody knows everyone by name and come from a variety of backgrounds. Also, being that it is a CUNY school, it is priced less that a private school, which takes away a little burden from loan repayment. Furthermore, it offers a variety of field placement opportunities to really learn your skills. The only con is the location, the school is located in the Bronx and is an hour from my home."

"I like that the program is small and the professors are always available to answer any questions and concerns that we have. It is very much like a family atmosphere."

"The Master of Social Work program is geared towards the Urban Environment. Social workers that are going to practice in New York, will most likely be working in an urban environment. This is what makes the program unique and beneficial. It prepares you for the community, people, environment we intend to work with. The professors have all worked in New York, understand the systems, the population and the environment. The professors and staff are always willing to answer questions, meet with students, discuss concerns. They courses are run as hands on, and interactive adding an additional layer to the learning. The set-up is very conducive to student participation. The campus itself is small and contained. The school caters to undergraduates and graduates, and thus the offices and other facilities are open until late. The campus is well kept, well lit and the environment is friendly and safe. The departments offer a lot of opportunities for students to meet often, in order to socialize. Lehman College is a great school and I am extremely happy of having selected this school to complete my graduate degree after having graduated 16 years ago from college."

"The Social Work program at Lehman College has no cons to it. The pros are endless because this program has allowed me to pursue the dream of being the servant leader I have always known that I could be. The faculty staff know you by name and are genuinely interested in the well-being of their students. We are not just a number, but apart of the Lehman College social work extended family."

"The internship prepares you for life post graduation and the student body is very ethnically diverse. However, the program is not very competitive and does not offer too many opportunities for scholarship or financial aid."

"The pro's is that there are three different programs you can choose from like the accelerated program. the cons is that they all require you to do an internship for each year, so if you do the 2 yr program, then you have to do the same requirements for each year."
