"I like that I actually feel cared about at Davenport. My adviser, who actually just recently left the company unfortunately, really cared about the students, and worked long hours to make sure they were comfortable and got the help they needed. I've taken 4 classes thus far in the graduates program. 3 of the teachers I've really liked, one of the teachers was a bit lacking, but not a bad teacher by any means. I don't think I got too much out of the class though sadly, and they may need to reevaluate some of their staff. They have just about all classes at night which works the best for people like me with a 9-5."

"I wanted a school that was strong in health sciences, and Davenport University is. I already knew I wanted to be a nurse, and I wanted to stay in the Grand Rapids area, so it fit. I did not want to live at home though, and I loved the residence halls at Davenport U., they are nice and modern, clean, and with plenty of security so I felt very safe. It made my commute ( walk across campus) to school very easy. The food on campus is good and they have a state of the art fitness center that I made use of at least three times a week. I had everything I needed right there. The student activities committee was busy all the time sponsoring events so there was never a dull moment for me and my soon to be nurses friends! We spent a lot of time in class and studying, the course work is challenging, but we had a lot of fun too. I felt like the education I was getting was preparing me for the reality of working as a nurse. I especially liked the case studies, they were very interesting and I learned a lot from them. Davenport University doesn't just teach you and give you a degree, they help you find a good job as well. I used the career planning services which included having a career coach, having help getting my resume together and interview coaching, which I needed because I was nervous. I knew I had the knowledge to be a good nurse, but I wasn't used to searching for a job in a field like that. The career coach was so helpful, by the time I had my first interview, I felt really ready!"

"My experience at Davenport University was relatively good, considering there are a number of good colleges and universities in this area, and competition is fierce for recruiting students. I attended evening classes mostly. The class size was small, which meant a little more work than I would have expected, but it also meant more personal instruction. The staff was very helpful in assisting me select the correct courses to graduate and assisted with job placement after I graduated. Since I am a native of this area, housing was not an issue for me, but I have several friends who needed housing on campus and off. Again, the staff came thru and found low cost off campus apartments for students who needed assistance. Aside from classes, the other students were friendly, and I made a lot of new friends quickly. Being located in the second largest city in Michigan was nice, as there are a lot of off campus options for entertainment, i.e. movie theatres, sports arenas, parks and a large convention center that books shows like Janet Jackson’s tour, Tom Petty , to name a few. Davenport University also offers clubs and other activities for students and most of them are pretty low cost. Overall, a good college experience!"
