"I am currently enrolled in Duke's MSN Family Nurse Practitioner degree program with an expected graduation date of August 2019. I have completed one year of study and am so glad I chose to accept my admission off at this institution. All of my professors are personable and easily reachable by email or phone. I get a response from them within the day or the next day--this includes weekends or holiday breaks. I know that Duke will help find my clinical placements for me which is a huge relief since I have friends in other programs who have to secure their own clinical sites which is an added stress. The financial aid office always responds to my emails the same day, and I have not had trouble with my loan disbursements or having the school insurance and some other fees removed from my account for services that I do not use. My favorite class so far has been the physical assessment class which I feel has prepared me well to go into clinicals. This class not only prepares you to complete a head to toe detailed assessment, but how to write SOAP notes correctly and efficiently. I am not afraid to ask questions to my professors and classmates, and the online forums make you feel connected to the class and really let you immerse yourself in that week's knowledge.Read Less"

"I am currently enrolled in an online MSN program and I am so happy I made this choice. While it does require you to be responsible and organized, having the flexibility to complete my courses from anywhere is wonderful. Also, because it is online, my classes have students from all over the world, living and working in their own states or countries, which provides an enormous range of perspectives you just can't get in a brick and mortar type class. The faculty are very open and engaging and the technology support is also very responsive. I highly recommend this program.Read Less"

"Currently ranked #6 in the nation, the Duke University MSN-NP program is challenging and rewarding. The curriculum involves various aspects of technology and provides various learning styles and activities. Faculty are very supportive, readily available, and have a true desire to see students succeed. The only con to a Duke degree is the cost to obtain one! Graduate school tuition and fees are hefty but the value of education and the name of the university are well worth the financial sacrifice."

"Duke University's Adult Nurse Practitioner Program was ranked 10th by U.S. News in 2011. This is an accurate ranking. The pros of this program include: the experienced and approachable instructors, the networking, and the name "Duke" on future resumes. This program is dedicated to it's student's success. Unlike other school which try to weed out the weaker student, Duke's program does everything in it's power to support the students. The cons: recent crime on campus, online courses which are a waste of time, and difficulties with financial aid services. Overall, this program lives up to the level of 10th in the U.S.Read Less"

"Duke's graduate program is exceptional. Everyone in the School of Nursing provides their students with phenomenal support to ensure you succeed. Most of my experience was online distance learning and help was always available not only from the School of Nursing but from every department. The only con of the program is the cost, however every effort is made to assist you in obtaining scholarships and loans to help lessen the financial burden."
