"While EVMS has an incredibly supportive faculty, its administrative services are severely lacking... to the extent that it's greatly impacted my overall experience with the school. I can't speak for the school's MD, other doctoral, or PA program, but I would pass on this school for non-professional Master's degrees. My course material was appropriate, however, after graduating I realized that my program severely underprepared me to find a job in my field. We were not even appropriately taught how to create resumes specific to our field. When I reached out to the school's alumni center for help with finding a job or even just resume writing services, I was told that they only offer career services to medical students. I also eventually realized that my graduate program is no longer even a degree option at EVMS, and that the program was merged with another program (giving current students an accredited degree, whereas mine is not) shortly after I graduated. I ended up having to resort to my undergraduate school's career services for help, which I think is pretty ridiculous. Also, don't expect to be able to easily access any of your prior coursework after graduation. Overall, my degree from EVMS taught me sought-after technical skills but did next to nothing to help me transition into a career."

"As a honest medical student and member of the EVMS community, I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere for your medical training. Not only is EVMS lacking much in the way of resources that other comparable medical schools may have, the culture that exists at EVMS is one that is counterproductive to success, this can be reflected by the above average faculty turnover and employee dissatisfaction (per online employer reviews). From the student's standpoint, I would have to say hard work is not recognized at this school. The school and the administration cherrypicks favorite students from the pool and these are usually the students who have spent a year or two prior to matriculation in the school's post-baccalaureate "Medical Masters" programs. These students are afforded extra accolades and recognition throughout their time at the school and carry this forward while other students who were not a member of this program are consistently treated as second-class citizens. I would like to add that the infrastructure that exists at this school for financial aid, IT services, etc. is very poor. The financial aid department is completely inept and has witnessed great turnover as well. With regards to IT services, it does not go long that there is some difficulty with this regard, be it the internet, network restrictions, or the inability to use vital resources such as the Google Drive."

"Choosing a college is a difficult decision, but the main factors that I took into account were what majors were offered, what extracurricular activities were available, and how much it costs. Ultimately, I think the best choice is to go wherever is the cheapest because not having student loans after graduating is a relief."

"EVMS is a great school, located in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. Although EVMS is primarily a medical school, there are numerous other health professions degrees available. The MPH program is a 2 year, full-time program. The MPH degree has 4 core concentrations for students to chose from. This is a small school, however it is surrounded by several healthcare facilities and hospitals. The MPH program needs some improvement, however it met my career needs."

"I am proud to be part of the EVMS student body. The culture at the school has a strong community focus and the dedication of the staff/faculty to each student's success is evident in their willingness to guide you on your path toward your goals. There are numerous student support services and opportunities for students to get involved in the community. The longevity of the MPA program with its many site affiliations provides for more varied clinical experiences, and the experience of the staff leaves no doubt that you will be prepared to pass the PANCE."

"Being a part of the EVMS Medical Master's Program has helped me to become a competitive, well-rounded candidate for medical programs (MD and DO) across the country. Before the program I applied to medical school on my own and received 0 interviews. While in the program I received several interviews and acceptances and I attribute my successful cycle to EVMS; which was always a topic that interviewers were interested in. Beyond the well-established reputation, the curriculum allowed me to hone my studying techniques and have the confidence that I will do well in medical school and on the USMLE in future years."

"The EVMS campus is wonderful! It's faculty and staff and very supportive and available. It is a nationally ranked and highly sought after by potential students and also by employers of the graduates. I also attended the Surgical Assistant program at EVMS and am now advancing my career by returning to this wonderful school. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there previously and had a successful career to follow."

"Eastern Virginia Medical School is nestled in the heart of Norfolk, VA. The dedicated faculty, up-to-date technology, and wide array of resources show just how dedicated the school is to the success of its students. The program directors are very involved with their students' education and their ability to succeed beyond the walls of EVMS. They are also incredibly dedicated to giving back to the community that provides so much knowledge to the students in their medical education."

"EVMS provides each student with the knowledge and skills they need to be a successful clinician upon graduation. All of the professors and staff are very helpful, knowledgable, and approachable. One con is the lack of personal time due to the intense curriculum. However, I feel that this could be an issue at any PA school because of the nature of PA training."

"As an out of state student, the price is not surprisingly high. however, a good deal of the teachers are both passionate and knowledgeable about their subjects, and great at passing that on to the students"

"One pro of attending Eastern Virginia Medical School for your MD degree is the size of the school. Due to it's smaller size it is easy to network with faculty, staff, and doctors in the area. The faculty is extremely friendly and always willing to help their students. One con of attending Eastern Virginia Medical School is the lack of research opportunities as this school is more clinically focused."

"The most positive aspect of EVMS's art therapy program is that it strives to be current and provide classes that will be of the most benefit to the student post graduation. Professors are readily available to students and genuinely care for them. A particular con is that there are no career services to assist students prior to graduation. Instead, a single class helps prepare students professionally in their last semester. However, the availability of networking, connections, and job assistance is greatly lacking."

"EVMS has amazing faculty members who truly work towards improving themselves and the curriculum to meet the students. Additionally, they work towards ensuring that each student is keeping up with the class work by sending an e-mail or setting up tutoring when a student's grades are not up to par. The students have created a community of collaboration, and it is furthered facilitated by faculty. Student focus groups and input is consistently sought after so changes that we suggest will be implemented at the earliest convenience. The only cons are the lack of IT support."

"EVMS is a great school. We are very community oriented with a student run free clinic and volunteering opportunities with local public schools etc. The one thing I really like about EVMS is that it supports everyone of its students academically with free tutoring etc. for anyone who is struggling with school. The faculty is great as they are very responsive to the student body and take our feedback seriously. Every time we voice our suggestions they make changes accordingly, we have student affairs and student progress representatives that works diligently not only for the current class but for incoming students and future classes. Cons: We have a traditional block based curriculum instead of a system based curriculum. This at times makes it hard to integrate different courses to one and decreases efficiency. With that said our school is working hard to move towards a system based curriculum and the faculty works together to make our lives easier."

"I am currently enrolled in my first your of grad school at Eastern Virginia Medical School and thus I have not discovered any cons for my graduate programs. HOWEVER The pros are that I was accepted based on my passion for health care and my uniqueness. The program offers great support in finding future careers and offers GREAT networking opportunities in and through the community for it is next to and works with the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. I'm sure I will discover more PROS in the time coming!"
