"I am currently enrolled in Edinboro University's online Advanced Standing Master's of social work program and I absolutely love it! I would definitely recommend the program to anyone pursuing their MSW. What I love most about the program is its flexibility. What I disliked the most about my undergrad studies was commuting, and with this program I can work on my assignments from the comfort of my own home on my own schedule. There is, however, some hands-on experience at the internship of your choice. I was able to chose any agency in my hometown, provided that I was supervised by someone with an MSW. That is another great component of the program. The curriculum teaches a generalist approach to social work such as mental health, family social work, administration, etc. That way, students learn a variety of different aspects of the practice all while specializing in their specific area of choice at their internship."

"College is a great time to learn and explore. Not only are you expanding your education but you learn so much about yourself in the process."

"I had a great experience with the personal attention the Dean of the Graduate School and program director gave me. I transferred from another competitive state University and Edinboro really worked with me personally to make this happen. This was my second masters so I definitely have some experience with dealing with large institutions, Edinboro hands down was #1. I found the tuition to be affordable, the staff to be personal and empathetic, and the instruction/curriculum challenging enough. If that's what your looking for Edinboro is a great choice. I realize this experience was personal to me and can't vouch for all but that was my experience."

"I am currently in the graduate MSW program online, and have truly enjoyed the program overall. The idea of online classes was not ideal to me. i had been accepted to schools where I could have gone to class, but Edinboro allowed me to continue to save money at home as I finished my degree, instead of moving to a new school/city. The online portal is not too difficult to navigate, and a lot of my classmates are older non traditional students who are changing career paths, are mothers/fathers, or are just finally getting that degree to move up in their careers. I would say that having prior experience in the social service field is definitely beneficial as well."

"The program I am taking is completely online. The availability of staff is excellent and the work load is reasonable considering this is a graduate program. The school is responsive to questions from the bursars office to the professors in a timely matter and always kind and professional. I would say the difficult part with any online program is just the lack of face to face communication and clarification of goals."

"Being online is a huge plus, this allows me to not have to move since there isn't a school in my town. The class sizes are reasonable and the professors are more than willing to help students. So far I haven't run into any cons."

"Edinboro University of Pennsylvania is actually a wonderful school. Many times our university is overlooked when compared to Gannon, Mercyhurst, Penn State or Clarion. However, every professor that I have become acquainted with are very passionate about their career of choice. They are truly intelligent from their education in addition to their experiences. The biggest con I would state is the mandatory online courses in the summer and winter sessions. I believe we should have had a choice to take them on campus."

"Edinboro University has been able to transform me from a B average student to an A student in just a year. I love learning more about the career that I love to do with nothing but support from the educators. The professors have provided a safe learning environment for us to be able to grow and develop into one of a kind Social Workers. The high demands of course work, internship and trying to make a living cause a lot of stress but at the end of the day it is worth it to be able to learn the tools I need to help make the world a better place for the clients that I will one day be helping."

"The pros of the online program are that it allows me to be more flexible with my work schedule. I do not have to worry about sitting in a classroom after working all day. The cons of the online programs are that you do not get the face to face interaction with professors and students."

"The school is great especially for online programs. However, there is little to offer financial assistance for out of state students."

"I feel the school and program is competitive but also small enough that you receive personal attention when needed."

"Edinboro has been a great school so far, with an excellent MSW program. The teachers are professional yet personal, and are very knowledgeable, yet approachable. The education I am getting is wonderful and the tuition is cheaper then most other universities. I am taking my classes online in another state, but feel as if I am getting the help I need in all my classes from the teachers. The cons have to do more with the administration and departments not working together then the classroom education. I think most universities have a complicated set of rules about who to talk to about financial vs other issues, but they don't communicate well across departments. Other then that I have been very pleased with the program."

"Tell us about your college experience. It was a great fit for me because I live in a rural area and was able to finish my degree while living far from a University.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?I would choose the same degree. An MSW is a flexible and desirable degree that employers want. What advice can you offer other students?I would recommend getting your degree as soon as possible to get the job you want sooner rather than waiting. I would have much rather gone to a physical school. Most of the professors were great, there were two that were hard to work with."

"Thus far I have had a good experience with Edinboro, and would recommend it for those thinking of a graduate program. My only con is the ability to contact professors over the summer courses"

"Pros: affordable out-of-state price, fully online courses, fully accredited, reasonable study materials so far, no "surprise costs" so far, balanced courseload, advanced standing option for MSW program Cons: communication from staff (including the chair of the social work program) is less than professional and untimely, the only communication from staff outside of classes has been regarding payments I need to make, no graduate level financial aid is offered besides federal student loans"
