Student & Graduate Reviews (88)

I read all these reviews and I felt compelled to write a review myself. The school does have some problems that need to be fixed, every institution does. However, it is not as bad as certain students would want you to think. Some people come to school to study and others to have fun or as I label them (pass-timers). Most of the negative reviews come from the pass-timers. At FCC, I studies business with a group of people I divide into two groups. The one group who came to study and the pass-timers. I can tell you, these pass-timers are the ones giving the school a bad name. For instant, some of the students that were in my class did not want to do homework, study for tests or do school work. The teacher would be giving lecture and they would be in their phones texting or on face book. Then when they get lost in the middle of the class they blame the teacher. One of them spent a week out of class (keep in mind the module is 16 days). This student was absent for 5 of those 16 days. When she returned, she wanted the teacher to go back to where he was when she left. The teacher refused. She then complained to the dean that the teacher does not want to help her and that she does not understand. They reprimand the teacher for doing a bad job. The student failed the class in the end. She recommended that they school fire the teacher. She gather with her fellow pass-timers and they did fire the teacher because of her. Another student came to class every day with a bad attitude. She would put her headset on and start listening to music. When the teacher tell her to stop doing that, she got mad and went to the dean and complained that the teacher was harassing her. Some of her complaints involved learning nothing from the teacher. She made that complaint during week three of the class. When the dean asked her to show her notes, she had nothing to show because she would ignore the teacher and his lecture. The book they give her for the module was still in the plastic wrap it came with. These are the students that go online and complain. They have no conscience and do not want to take responsibilities for their actions. Most of the students that enroll at FCC want to be treated as children and babies. The students sign a contract with the school to teach them a trade. However, after a couple of days into the contract, the students stop coming to school. Then the school in turn charges the teachers to find the students or their performance will be affected because of the students absence. So, not only the professors have to prepare lessons, grade tests, and correct the home-works of their students in their own time, (they dont get paid for that time), they now have to carry the burden of calling students at their houses and keep track of where they are. Keep in mind, these students are grown adults, not children. If you ask me, the teachers are the ones getting the bad hand of the deal. Grow a conscience people! If you come to school and walk out without an education while they give you books and teachers to assist you, it is your fault, not the school's fault. Grow up!!!

Degree: Patient Care Technician
Graduation Year: 2014

I decided to go here to become a patient care tech. In the middle of my attendance of this school they changed named and changed the rules of the school, which upset me. But I couldn't quit since I was already halfway Thur it. Then we lost all our teachers (R.N. Nurses) they all got fired or quitted . So when it came down to graduation I was not informed about what was our graduation ceremony date since they only do the ceremony every 3 months . When it came down to the time to take the state test I feel I'm not ready. Yes I could attend more classes but I shouldn't have to . So this Patient Care Tech program was a joke.

Graduation Year: 2017

The best advice I can give anyone looking into this school is to run and don't look back. I came to Florida career college to better my education and have a successful future . I was enrolled from one day to another and they made everything very easy. After some research and realizing their M.A.T program was going to cost me 21,000 something I decided it was going to cost me too much money for a technical profession. I attended this school for two days after I enrolled. First of all the teacher never showed up to class. We had two different substitutes both days. On the third day I decided to unenroll and explore my options before financial aid went through. The students that were already in this school told me it wasn't worth it but they were in school because it had already been past 30 days. When I came in to un-eroll they made it very difficult said they wouldn't consider taking me back if I wanted to come back and when it was time to speak to the director he avoided me and then yelled at me and told me he was disappointed in me took the materials they gave me and walked away. I felt very disrespected .

Degree: Technology Management
Graduation Year: 2016

Any of the I.T. certificates offered you can probably do on your own, there is a text book and test you can take, or go to an institution that gives value for what you are paying. Do your self a favor and make sure you are getting a great education for your money. I waited to long because yes the people are nice, but the institution is corrupt. FCC charged my financial aid two full time semesters nearly $10,000 plus had me paying a subsided student loan for my 4 months of poor education. Be informed before signing any papers exactly what you are signing up for. Their curriculum is a test and possible answers, study and take the same test at the end of the month. For $14,000 I can educate myself on Microsoft, Excel, word and so forth. I discovered that this school is the epitome of fraud, and there are other schools like it. these giant money pits for your grants and money. I lost a lot of money in just 3 months by the 4th month I left but of course they still charged me for it. I went back to Broward College, took four classes and received my AA for less then what FCC charged for four months of attendance. The loan debt is a nightmare especially when it is such a poor school and investment that you may not get the career you need to pay back such significant amounts.

This school is a disgrace all they care about is making money. Nobody in corporate picks up the phone you get new professors every other day. I basically taught myself everything I needed to know. I would not recommend their nursing program ever!!!!!

Degree: Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services, Other
Graduation Year: 2009

The classes were poorly structured, the teachers were freshly graduated from other school and had little to no real-world experience in the field and the curriculum was hot garbage. After 3 months of "Go to page 20 and write all 50 question and answers" with no other instruction I quit but I still owe 20k

Degree: Medical Assistant
Graduation Year: 2014

I'm embraced to say I attend Florida career college. My current employer still makes fun of me for attending. NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Worst mistake I could have made. Better off attending SPC. Don't let admission fool you, they are way over priced $19,000 for an MA degree

Degree: Patient Care Technician
Graduation Year: 2016

I was told nothing but lies from the beginning. When I started realizing I was being lied to and began questioning them, I was given answers I wanted to hear but had nothing to do with the truth. I had time to quit before I was responsible for my student loans but they convinced me everything would be fine by bringing in previous students who were lucky enough to halfway succeed. It is now time to graduate and I am being told they can't graduate this class as they have no internship and no way of completely the program. I was told I would be a PCT but there is NO such thing, you get a CNA Certification for the bargain price of 16,000 dollars which you could have gotten from any Florida Public Tech School in 3 weeks for 199.00. They do not tell you that you must pass a level2 background check to receive a CNA certificate and when it becomes an issue they tell you (with a smile) that sometimes these background checks fall through the cracks. I suggest you research other schools and run from this one. They only want your money and any instructor who tells you the truth is fired within days.
