"I was able to learn about the role of a school counselor and how to help students. We learned about the different types of therapies available and the research behind them. We had great professors who all had experience in mental health. The local school district also has a partnership with the program so it was really easy to get placed in a job at graduation."

"I would not recommend anyone interested in obtaining an MBA attend this university. FGCU is horrible and completely unorganized - I'm surprised this university is still operating. No one answers the phone, ever! Departments have no idea how to get ahold of each other. The advisors are basically non-existent and the professors are horrendous. Do not waste your time."

"The online MBA program is truly interesting. The offering is targeted at working adults who can benefit from an asynchronous online program to have the flexibility they need while working full time. Yet the program is not flexible with missed or make up work. Only a few professors care enough to give leniency in that regard. One economics professor (ECP 6705) is completely non-participative. You get HW assignments to do in Pearson My Lab and exams from the same. She gave an assignment to complete an Excel spreadsheet but gave no instruction how to input formulas. Never even went over an example. I feel stuck with this school since I have taken too many classes to stop now. Hindsight is 20/20. I should have gone elsewhere. Be careful with your choices. I hope the remaining courses will be more FLEXIBLE!Read Less"

"I have been attending Florida Gulf Coast University since the Fall of 2017. Every class has provided assignments and classwork that involved critical thinking and real-life scenarios. My professors have provided constructive feedback and participate with the class to ensure every student understands the assignment."

"I am currently enrolled in the Fall semester at Ave Maria School of Law. Before taking on this journey, I graduated with a Bachelors in Science from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2012. I graduated at the age of 22 with a 2 year old and a 10 month old. The university did a great job at assisting me complete my degree with no set backs. The number of classes that were available online allowed me to fulfill my duties and responsibilities as a mother and still pursue my academic goals. There was also a number of scholarship opportunities that helped me financially. I am eternally grateful for the vast amount of opportunities that were available to me as a single mother.Read Less"

"This program was affordable and with the online learning, you were able to go at your own pace. The only thing that I did not like about certain courses was the need to participate in frequent discussion boards with other students. The design of these discussion boards felt like forced participation for nothing more than to have a grade, and the time frames for these discussions tended to have short windows."

"The absolute best part about my graduate program is how small the program is. You get very close to the professors and classmates as you move through the program. The only con I've found so far is the the school is not yet making all resources available to non-local distance learning students. For example, the library offers many worthwhile workshops; however, it's not convenient for me to drive 5 hours, take days off work, and find a hotel for every workshop I want to attend. I've asked the school to consider offering some of them as webcasts to those of us that wish to attend remotely.Read Less"

"The curriculum and instruction/educational technology program under the College of Education is an amazing program. The faculty are fabulous, the curriculum is great, and the university as a whole is great to deal with. I highly recommend FGCU!"

"The program has been appropriately challenging with a wealth of information delivered via multiple medias. Engaging course material is available online, but professors remain available to meet with students on campus or via E-meetings. The staff has been more accommodating than I ever expected. Registration, financial aid, library services, and others have friendly staff to help students learn processes that can be done with a couple mouse clicks after basic familiarization. The major negative aspect of this program is the limited opportunity for local internship and/or employment in educational institutions. Progressive, visionary, change has not been something widely accepted in the region.Read Less"

"My graduate program is great because it is online so it gives you the opportunity to work and do service projects without having to always worry about your schedule. You can work on your own time. However, for students who are looking for that community, you will have to do some searching because many of the students might not be working at the same pace you are or they will be doing school far away from campus. The faculty are great and they are always available if you need help. The program is flexible and offers great specializations in Management, Non-profit, and Environmental Public Administration.
