Fortis College Reviews - Certificate in Dental Assistant
Review of Dental Assistant Certificate Degrees
DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!They all about money. Teachers don't know the material they're teaching. They talk and teach you like your in high school. Teachers always leaving their room for minutes at a time when they suppose to be teaching. They have the same three teachers teaching three different subjects. Teachers only been in there field for 5 years and teaching classes. You credits DO NOT transfer to any another colleges. Your better off going to a four or a two year college. I would not recommend this college to anyone else.
I am the parent of a graduate. First, the college is extremely overpriced for the education received.Second, professors and deans do not respond to calls, texts, emails or communicate when contacted without multiple efforts which may or may not result in a response. Finally, gainful employment is very difficult with a fortis certificate.
I went to Fortis College Phoenix for Dental Assisting and it truly changed my life. I am now attending for Dental Hygiene 5 years later. It gave me direction when I didn't have any. Class sizes are small and staff truly cares. Some teachers can be a little frustrating with lack of organization or aloofness if you will, but the majority have priceless experience and knowledge of the field. Would recommend!! Only you can change your life.
I went to this school thinking that I would have a good trade under my belt. The classes we're hit or miss. Either the teacher knew what she was talking about, you got a teacher that taught from a book, or you got a completely unnecessary class. My director Mr. Martin Freel, lied to my employer, told him that I did not come to school, on a day he (freel) demanded I come or I'd fail my externship. Now I'm finding out today ( 2/9/16) I paid tuition from a school " learning from their mistakes", no radiology certification, no guidance of where to certify, and no job to start with ( I found a job by MYSELF a YEAR later). They took my money and gave my NOTHING. Not even some type of refund for what I didn't learn that they now offer. I was recommended to retake the whole thing over, for another 11 months. I have a husband, a job, and my parents to care for! I don't have time to do it over. I'm not sure on how much has "changed" but im not going through it anymore! Thank you fortis in landover for practicing on me, you will NEVER do it again.
Worst unprofessional place to go to school plus doesnt help improve you life the fortis college located in landover md is the worst and unprofessional place i ever dealt with NEVER GO TO THIS SCHOOL YOU WILL BE DISRESPECT AND WASTE YOUR TIME .never
i will not recommend this school to anyone, the financial services are a JOKE... i put in for a loan in May and every time i call to see my status they always tell me it's still pending????? also i was told that they are charging me with fees. pleasssse don't go to this school they will take youur money and your time. (Richmond,VA)
Don't not recommend this school at all. The teacher is horrible. Spring told the class if she was a serial killer I would be her first victim. Then they was to charge me 5000 out of pocket because they wouldn't let me come because of finicale situations.
I LOVED THIS SCHOOL! I learned a lot from the instructors. I loved that we did a lot of hands on. I'm going back for the dental hygiene program. I would & have recommended this school to family & friends. Any school you're going to have your ups & downs & yes the staff can be shitty at times but they are always willing to help you. But I wouldn't care I was going to get mines regardless. Potential employers love Fortis graduates because we aren't just dental assistants we're expanded functions & Fortis is accredited. I can't wait to start the dental hygiene program!
Do not come here for dental assisting! Worse experience of my life and a total run for your money. This facility does not have enough equipment for the students, they lie and tell you your class size will be small but in all actuality the class size is large, and the director of the dental assistant program is VERY RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, and DOES NOT LIKE TO SEE HIS STUDENTS EXCELL, he will do ANYTHING in his power to see you fail even if it means spreading lies! THEEEEE ABSOLUTE WORSE EXPIRENCE EVER!!!! I did learn a lot, however it's not worth the stress.
I have a few positive things to say about this school, but to be honest I have more negative thoughts than positive. I just finished up my dental assisting program two months ago and I'm happy to be done. Be very very aware when going to "tour the school" or "talk to someone" about a program. They will suck you in and pressure you to sign up that very day without even thinking it through. They suckered me in. After that, applying to this school was a living NIGHTMARE! It took weeks and weeks for simple paperwork to go through. I probably went to the school about a dozen times before I finally was enrolled. Same goes for when it's time to graduate. Part of the problem is that the staff is never there and it's almost impossible to contact the person you need. As far as my education goes, I say it was average. I learned some interesting and important things for my career (dental assisting) but I feel like I could have learned more. My teachers were pretty good but some of the staff there had a real attitude problem. Teachers and administrators quit and were fired all the time. No consistency. The students on the other hand made the cast of Jersey Shore look tame. Fights, screaming matches, and just plain rudeness were daily occurrences. Externship was the LONGEST 12 WEEKS OF MY LIFE!! The sites they send you to are places they scraped together at the last minute because the offices had no clue on how to train a student. The offices wanted free labor, not time to train a student. The thing that irritated me the most was the lying. Us dental assistants were told that we would graduate making $16 an hour. Every interview I've been to (as well as other students have told me)offers $10 to $11. Oh yeah, they made it seem like there are so many jobs available in our field. Newsflash, there are very few. I could have made that without spending $20,000 for my education. This school does not have the best reputation with employers. Moral of the story, go to community college and earn yourself a real degree.
