It was ok there. Some instructors were very good people. Could be a little more professional. Overall experience was good. They should perhaps add a few more class choices. More medical and a few more technical jobs, such as electrical, mechanical, and welding,
I Really enjoyed my experience at Fortis. Everything there was very organized and professional. The staff was very polite and helpful, they are open to answer any questions and concerns that you may have. The entire staff including instructors are very willing to work with you on any situations you may have that you think can hinder from you completing school. In class, you will learn a lot of excellent information and skills that will help you be very successful you go out in your field.
I learned a lot. The teachers were very nice and we'll versed in everything. Having to get to go to a hospital to get hands on is wonderful. The school is very clean and the business office is very helpful. I really enjoyed being at Fortisand would recommend anyone to come here.
Attended the Fortis College nursing program and only have great things to say about it. The teachers take their job extremely serious and you have to work really hard to pass the classes. This program is not easy so if you were not a hard worker find somewhere else. Passed the ISCHMM my first try thanks to Fortis
Class size very small, incoming students mix with already students and may take an advance class before a basics class, making learning hard if not taken in order. After graduation, we never had our promised graduation ceremony it's been over a year already.
Complete waste of time. All the teachers except 2 don't care about their students and do not want to see them succeed. The Dean of the nursing program is a sneaky, leery, no good piece of blank, she doesn't communicate with the students, she changes the rules weekly, she is not there to help the students or make the school better, she is just there to make sure the school gets paid. The president of Fortis College Centerville is a card board cut out of a president. He gives special treatment to female students and allows them to "pass" and move on even if the fail the class. There has been numerous rumors of him have personal, and sexual relationships with students. He also has removed all trash cans from every class room to prevent students throwing trash away. Fortis college Centerville has there students do clinical at location where they can not do patient care and they are forced to sit in a conference room for 10 hours at a time and do nothing. The clinical coordinator does everything but her job, and thinks she is the best nurse to walk the face of the earth. She tells her students one thing in the class room and does the complete opposite in the clinical setting. This school is a complete waste of time and money, all they want is your money and don't care about their students
I would first like to say every school comes with problems and you have to decide what problems you want to deal with. I highly suggest not to attend this college for many reasons and the most important is that there are NO advocates for the students. No matter what any of the staff may say with their words there is no one there to support you in any real decisions regarding your profession and schooling. I would be very cautious of the fact that this school is only about money for one it's a business and once you are in they are getting their money regardless if you pass or fail. This college says one thing bit their actions have a total difference. Nursing is a career where you have to be flexible but they only expect that from their students if you are night student please be careful for you WILL have day clinicals. Many of us have had to quit our jobs to pursue this career. I know many people do not have the luxury of just quitting their jobs so that may go to school and this is something they will not tell you in admissions. Also understand that the worst culprit of this do not care because I already have my money attitude is the president of the school. I have overheard him talking to a professor as to why he thinks all nursing students only want the easy way out. Believe me if you are pursuing this profession the last thing you want is the easy way out. I highly recommend to go anywhere else but try to go somewhere where your credits will transfer. You could face be I ng left with over 40 grand in debt because of this school and not even be able to go anywhere else. I wish I would've done some research before I went to this school because even though the students become your family I don't think I would chose those college again.
I wish I would have done research more thorough then I did when I enrolled. The reviews for this location are on point to the truth. It is sad how many students are just being tossed around at this campus, having the exam answers given to them from the instructors right before the exam. I have taken 6 or so HESIs now and the last 2 my instructor willingly helped each of us on any question we need, just so she'd have a higher pass score. When I tried to confide in the director of nursing she said I was over exaggerating and I should be thankful I got the grade I received. There is a lot of false advertising at this school in regards to the evening program, they don't have enough instructors so the schedule changes between day hours and nights. The whole point in evening classes is to be able to keep your job to support your family and pay your way through school. I had to go from 40+ hour work week to 10. How is that fair? It's impossible to live like that. I know several students who are having the second problems with their jobs as well and some of them are no longer able to work. The clinical locations are far, which isn't that big of a deal most of the time, but when they are 8 hour days it can become a struggle. ESPECIALLY when you show up and do 4 hours of clinical work at a cute and come to find out we weren't even aloud to be there due to the school failing to sign contracts. We, as students were working, doing treatments, imagine how much trouble that could've caused!!! Unbelievable and of course once again, the instructor said we need to act like it never happened and to not talk about it. Sad and unprofessional. The lab hours are a waste and a joke as well, lab is required so when we have lecture in one room we stop mid way through, go to the lab and continue the lecture there. No lab work is ever done, they can just write it off that it was since we were in the room. Great learning experiences. Not. I don't understand how a school that lies, hides and cover their mistakes, give students exam and HESI answers can keep their accreditation. I am 100% ashamed to say that I attend this college. I sat in on an NCLEX review class, they didn't realize I wasn't even supposed to be in the room, they were reviewing the questions and answers from the 2015 exam. Never did they review what they learned, but they taught us how to remember answers quite well. The president is aware of all that is going on and yet he refuses to address any issues all he worries about is someone eating a salad or chips in the classroom, not the fact that he is running a fraudulent school. I have also, like others have stated in their reviews, contacted the Ohio board of nursing and education. I would much rather start over from a real institution who truly cares about more than their pass rate. This is what causes schools to lose their accreditation and close their doors. Nothing at this campus represents any sort of professionalism or honesty. It's crooked and the audit they just had was rigged and we'll prepared for. Funny how the students know about that isn't it? I know 3 students who aren't up to date on their immunizations who are in clinicals this quarter, they just lied and printed off fake ones because they didn't want to pay to have them. Those forms look like they were written by a child and how they got overlooked is scary. I feel as if I have been wasting my time and money at this place. I know many will ask why I stayed if it was so bad, the answer I have is because ITT closed, hondoros doesn't have better ratings and it's "fast tracked". I hear every year how things are getting better, the only thing that's improving is the Dean, director of nursing and instructors hiding issues and lying. Let's not forget about the improvement on exam grades. So thank you Fortis, for my great exam grades. Our exams are over 7+ chapters at times, the school doesn't make the exams so they don't know what to teach. In one book that has well over 25 chapters, we honestly reviewed 4 chapters in a quarter. Can anything be done about any of this? I would really like to know what I can do. I am going for my RN in Jan so I'm glad I won't be a LPN with no education out in the field, I feel bad for patients out there who may have some of these students as their nurse and caregiver.
The nursing program is a joke, but the tuition pid is not funny. Teachers not qualified is the big thing, no teachers hours, no tutoring for the nursing classes, have to get a pass to go to the bathroom. The learning environment is like elementary school. The director will not listen to any student. This place is worse than pathetic. We wasted about $9,000 on one semester there. My son passed but hated it and wouldn't go back. We're told student loans would cover about $1200 as I paid the rest in cash. lol and behold we now have a judgment against us for that with not much explanation. Go to a real college! All of the community colleges have certified professors and programs. Have been told a nursing degree from here isn't well respected in the industry. We got sucked in by the intake person who was very good at her job, and thinking he could get his AA RN in less time. If you look at their true graduation rate it is very very low. They lied about it.
I am about to enter my last quarter at this place. Most would be happy and relieved, I am not. I am scared. We were just passed along, the instructors honestly just added a couple points to our exams so that we would reach the passing grades. No one in my group should be where we are now, I can make 2 instructors that need to be looked into. The study guides they started to give us are currently question by question that goes in the order of the exams. I failed a class and was able to get passed along, it's that easy. The president at this school is a joke, all he cares about is the pass rating of the exit exam and those words came out of his mouth. The Dean of nursing is pretty much non existent when it comes to having issues she'll just talk to the instructors and once again just pass us along. Would I recommend this school? Absolutely not. This is at the Centerville location in case anyone needs to know. I am currently in the process of getting in touch with the Ohio board to address my complaints. Shall I continue to contain about the clinicals, as they are even worse?
