I have never been ashamed of anything as I am in this school. I can't describe the disappointment. The schedule is always changing. The "teachers" just read from slides without even trying to get you to understand, if you ask a question they'll have to look it up or ask you to google it!!!! Ridiculous response for the amount of money they charge. They lie about credentials. Anytime I had an issue they would refer me to "Susan" who obviously hates being bothered with issues, probably because she knows the truth and can't say it. The president there is a JOKE, absolutely no help at all, he gets defensive about any issues and says that we're grown adults and need to learn to deal with the unknown! Unbelievable. Let's discuss clinicals, shall we? Waste! Maternity clinicals are held at a church feeding the needy. All others are at a nursing home where we just sit and do homework the WHOLE time while the instructor tries to sell you keychains that she makes to raise money for her bike runs! She talks inappropriately to the students and shares pictures that should never be seen in the first place and she complains about the school!!! The "education" is nonexistent. Look at their pass to fail ratios, pretty sad that the boards had to come in and the instructors had to cover their butts and blame the students by saying we weren't willing to learn!! I can go on for days, but I hope you get the point. Please do your research if you plan on going to the Centerville campus. Good luck and I wish you the best.
People please do your research when entering this types of schools I know you want a faster degree but this people are mainly their for money I feel bad for them that they have to push students into getting to their school please go to mdc or fiu where there are real college AMD university schools or Broward .Don't go for the easy way because this schools will put you in debt.
This school is a rip off they are only interested in money not students success. Schools like this should be closed. Once You are sitting in that seat the niceness switch is turned off and there is no real effort to support you in finding employment.
I feel that this school is a rip off. It cost like 39,000 for the full 2 year program. The teachers here are extremely rude and disrespectful to their students. We have talked to the dean about it, he doesn't care to do anything about it, we talked to our directors of our individual programs, they do nothing. \its a shame that you invest so much money and time to go there, but is under stress everyday. There are certain teachers who don't like to answer questions and some that do not know the material at all. But the constant yelling in our faces like we are children, slamming doors in our faces is ridiculous. You can make great money in this field, but the treatment you get at this school is unacceptable. Every group have complained about the same thing from surgical techs, radiology techs, and etc. I have seen teachers quit, even personnel who worked in the offices because they didn't like working here. If I would have known this school was like this, I would have never attended here. Please invest your money some where else because this school only see people as a price tag, and not as a student to help further their education. I am an A student, but am so stressed about attending certain classes because of the treatment.
The school is Mobile, Al was great. Enrolled into the EMT-B and later the EMT-A classes and enjoyed the classes. In the field I feel prepared for things I am presented with. The instructors were awesome open to questions and giving personal examples for most questions as well as some "street tips" for some scenarios. Financial office was near non-existent. But the program head always had their door open for questions. I would definitely recommend the program.
I've had the most horrible experience in my life during my enrollment in this school. It seems as it's just for profit. I was made aware that I had reached my life time loan limit just weeks before my finish date. So, instead of me getting a refund I owe the school. FA was very unprofessional. How did this get missed? So, now I may or may not be able to graduate with my class.
I am shocked to see such negative comments about this school but anyways I can only speak for myself and for MY program. The teachers and even the director of the program is very involved with us. They genuinely care about our studies and helps in any way they can. I feel like really learn a lot in my classes because the Hijazis are such great teachers. They really take the time to make sure you understand what is being taught. The work load is intense but its because its such a fast paced program but you really will learn. Our director stays on top of EVERYTHING & even send emails regarding new opportunities. All the MLTs that have graduated are currently employed or have continued there education. I am very excited that I am attending this campus & get to interact with such great teachers.
I was really excited to go to this school when I first started. I had two friends that had gone there and were currently working as Hygienists. So that's a good thing. However, I feel like the quality of education I am getting is actually really bad. Other Dental Hygiene schools in the area didn't have anything good to say about Fortis either. I had teachers passing us when we were all failing tests (literally failing, 60% was a high score) just to pass us and move us along the program, just reading slides they didn't even make, falling asleep during class, it was awful. The financial aid office is just one lady who doesn't really know what she's doing. It is always so hard to get a straight answer about tuition and books. The school does an "estimate" for what your books will cost each quarter (usually $450) and charge you, even if your books don't end up costing that much, or you deny your books and buy them from amazon. It really feels like all they care about is getting paid. I was also lied to about the degree, when I was applying I was told that the dental hygiene degree was a bachelor's program, and one other girl in my class said they told her the same thing. It's just an associates, which is fine, you won't get paid any less as a hygienist for only having an associates, you just have less opportunity for future career options, and if you have a bachelor's it is always easier to get a job over someone with a lower degree. Overall, I would not recommend this school to anyone. I am currently trying to transfer schools, I have heard that the credits won't transfer anywhere (That should tell you something right there) but I am still trying. The girls in my class are great and some of the teachers are very helpful and really care about you, but the school overall doesn't feel like a college, just poorly taught classes with a desire to get as much money out of you as possible.
Poor use of resources as far as teaching goes the instructors are superb gentleman but are horrible teachers and do not take their job seriously as far as the institution as a whole it is not treated fairly the night classes do not receive the same attention as the day classes and the library is not available for night students.
I have read all of these reviews before attending this school and honestly was terrified but went through my decision anyways...I'm glad I did because Fortis is a great school the teachers help out so much and really want you to succeed. The teachers actually teach you and make sure you learn. Everything is very organized! I think maybe it depends on the campus because Pensacola campus pass rate and job placement rate is over 80% in both areas ! You get what you put into it as well but I know Pensacola campus is an awesome school and I can't wait to graduate
