"I went to this school thinking that I would have a good trade under my belt. The classes we're hit or miss. Either the teacher knew what she was talking about, you got a teacher that taught from a book, or you got a completely unnecessary class. My director Mr. Martin Freel, lied to my employer, told him that I did not come to school, on a day he (freel) demanded I come or I'd fail my externship. Now I'm finding out today ( 2/9/16) I paid tuition from a school " learning from their mistakes", no radiology certification, no guidance of where to certify, and no job to start with ( I found a job by MYSELF a YEAR later). They took my money and gave my NOTHING. Not even some type of refund for what I didn't learn that they now offer. I was recommended to retake the whole thing over, for another 11 months. I have a husband, a job, and my parents to care for! I don't have time to do it over. I'm not sure on how much has "changed" but im not going through it anymore! Thank you fortis in landover for practicing on me, you will NEVER do it again."

"Fortis College Medical Assisting Program was the best choice I could have made. I was getting back into the work force after being a stay-at-home mom for 15 years. Employed in the medical field prior to starting a family I knew that's where I wanted to continue my education. The cost of the class and the schedule made it possible for me to go back to school while my children were in school. I was lucky to go to Fortis College in Winter Park, the staff there are wonderful, like a family. They truly care about each students success and go above and beyond when needed. The education that I received went far beyond my expectations. The instructor Ms. Denise Wilkie is a professional and requires a high level of competency in her graduates. She teaches with a desire to make her Medical Assistants proficient, professional and well prepared for the marketplace. I feel blessed to have been taught by her at Fortis College. She prepared me well for my current employment and is a phone call away should I need additional resources. The campus director Mr. Richard Zaiden shares credit when it comes to students success. Holding a position such as his you might think you never see him or that he is unaware of the classroom activity; this is not the case at all. He works hard to see that each student gets what he or she needs, He is a hands on director even stepping into class setting when needed. I would recommend Medical Assisting Program to anyone who is thinking about the medical field. The education you get is superior in my opinion. The class room atmosphere is calm and relaxed. While there is a ton of book work and clinical procedures that are required for graduation, the classes are small which make it possible for the students to support and help each other. "I just graduated from this college. Literally, I finished yesterday! I love this school. Expensive? Yes. I did all my pre-reqs at a community college so that saved tons of money. I just took my NUR classes at Fortis. This also helps with credit transfers. I know the U of Utah will accept any NUR classes from here, but not the pre-reqs. I felt the teachers here really cared about my success. They are easy to reach outside of class and give lots of positive feedback. I feel completely prepared to take the NCLEX. School is strict. You have to be in uniform anytime on campus and you must attend class. They want you to be professional (as you should be if you are going into the medical field). Attendance is necessary, because it is a lot of information to process, if you miss a class, you can fall behind quickly. Also, if you fail two classes, you are out of the program. However, if you are willing to work hard, this is a great school. If you are looking for an easy degree, then nursing is probably not for you. Not at Fortis or anywhere else. Go get a degree in the art history and make 10 bucks an hour. Good luck!"

"I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone teachers are not helpful they stick together tell you not to drop their class to get your money and leave you hanging after they are paid they will not return your phone calls financial aid over charge for classes taking all of your federal aid you get to school the best way you can while they pull up in bmw and Mercedes Benz and all of the staff have houses bigger than the White House it self."

"Fortis is approved by the Florida board of nursing if you look on the departments page. It is not accredited. This means that you may sit for the NCLEX and become an RN for the state of Florida, but not nationally. It also means that when it comes time for you to get a BSN, you have to use one of their ''articulated agreement'' schools, which is mostly online as well as fortis is, and they are just as pricey as fortis. If you attempted to go to a community college or accredited college, they will not accept any credits from a non accredited school. Bummer I know. It costs about 45,000 to attend fortis vs a community college for around 13,000. So when it comes to paying student debt, fortis only transfers to those ''articulated agreement schools'' and there is only a handful of them and you have no choice but to attend them to advance your degree. They are a profit school and the schools quality is poor from my experience. If you are willing to pile on the extensive debt and risk the chance of not being able to further your RN license, then you will be state approved at least. I was in It for the long haul for BSN and I didn't think it was a wise decision. My counselor at PSC said he has to be professional with his words but what they are doing is nearly criminal and students tend to be desperate when they find the school so accepting. If you are confused and have questions like I did, Check it all for yourself on your states board of nursing page, you can look up the school and call them to verify. Fortis counselors legally twist their words and make it seem like they don't know about their reputation, go to any accredited local college counselor and they will tell you. I had to argue with the councilor I had at Fortis about their accreditation and she had no problem telling me they were...she said her students told her they checked and they were. Just FYI!"

"i will not recommend this school to anyone, the financial services are a JOKE... i put in for a loan in May and every time i call to see my status they always tell me it's still pending????? also i was told that they are charging me with fees. pleasssse don't go to this school they will take youur money and your time. "I would not ever recommend this school to anyone ever. Worst decision I could've made. youre not treated like adults in there, you have so many rules, if you miss a day they freak out and blow your cell phone . any other college would not care what you did or didn't do because they treat you like an adult... you pay to go to a college. you pay the teachers. The MA director is not a nice lady. she puts on a good front to everyone, acts like she cares but in all reality she doesn't. theres a new teacher there that has red hair and she lies to all the students tellin them things the director has said when the director has no idea what anyones talking about and shes really just sucking up to the director. she tells all her students what all the staff above her says to her and gossips in class, then goes back and tells lies on students. Theres a couple okay teachers there, Ms. M is one of them. she is one of the nicest genuine people we have all ever met. she takes the time to get to know each and everyone of her students and always has nothing but good and positive to say. luckily im in dental and I have plenty friends in MA and MOA who tell me about everything everyday. theres one good teacher in dental and its Mrs. Pierce. shes a saint. hope this helps all and I wish I would've listened to the reviews."

"Will not recommend this school to anyone. Specially to someone that you love. It is the WORST school ever. The quality of management, the quality of the education and the quality of the professors are all the lowest can be for a college. This is not a subjective evaluation. I have more than one testimony to prove it. Go to a decent school."

"It is ridiculous that Corporate was the one making the test when they are not the one teaching the students. I think personally that students were being set up for failure so they could get more money out of students. I would definitely not recommend this stupid school to anybody. If corporate wants to run the show, they should be the one coming to classroom teaching students. Our teachers can only do so much. They are good teachers, but the test really screwing the students up."

"Fortis was a great school to start my nursing career with. The teachers there, for the most part, were awesome and cared about the students. Was it difficult...you bet. Is it expensive...oh yeah. Luckily, I have the GI Bill so I switched from a community college to Fortis because there was no waiting list to start clinicals. Honestly, even without the GI Bill it would have been worth it. The class sizes, teachers, and overall experience was more personable than the local community college. Most of the negative reviews I read on here are some of the same things I heard some of my prior classmates complain about and honestly, there is probably merit to less than 10% of it. You know it is a for profit college before you start, so why complain about the tuition. You know it is nationally accredited so most regionally accredited colleges won't transfer their classes (which doesn't matter if you plan on stopping at your ADN). However, I have just started a RN to MSN program with WGU and they took all my Fortis general education classes. APU, Chamberlain, and Kaplan do also so some regionally accredited and CCNE accredited will take Fortis transfers, just have to know where to look. Most of the people I found that complain either failed out and want someone to blame but I found Fortis to be a great place to get a education and start my nursing career. Is it perfect, of course not, but what in life is? It is better than the community college I attended though and I am glad I switched!!!"

"I think that Fortis Online is a great college regarding the academics side.They have a lot of great teachers who really seem to to care about helping achieve your goals.They also have a really good academic support team who really try to make sure that you stay focused and reach your full potential.The only department that I feel could really use a lot of improvement and possibly even a whole new staff is the financial aid department.They take forever to respond to you when you leave a message or email if they respond back at all.When they finally respond back they usually tell you just enough to get you to stop calling or emailing.They also take forever to send you the balance of what's left once your tuition and books have been paid. In closing I would recommend Fortis Online as a great school but you have to stay on top of the financial aid department because their services really leave something to be desired."

"Don't not recommend this school at all. The teacher is horrible. Spring told the class if she was a serial killer I would be her first victim. Then they was to charge me 5000 out of pocket because they wouldn't let me come because of finicale situations."

"Fortis College was a great experience it taught me a lot about HVAC/R that I didn't know. The instructor were great. We received a new director right before I graduated and he name was George Fordyce and he made the whole department much better. The instructors will help you in anyway to receive the grades that you deserve. The school helped me to get a good job with a good company. I very highly recommend Fortis College to anyone that would like to receive a HVAC/R certificate."

"Do NOT go to FORTIS for surgical tech. The main "teacher" N. is horrible. You will spend 30k and have to look up your education from google and youtube. She literally hates her students. She is miserable in life and takes it out on her students. The worst "educational" experience I have ever had. I don't know how a person like this is allowed to teach. And she is the only instructor for the whole program. The program director is actually really good. Actually she is the new program director because the old one quit 1 year into her job. This school has some caring people and some good educators but the main instructor for surgical tech shouldn't be allowed near students. You could literally get the same education from google and youtube. She will pick a student she dosnt like and bully them until they fail or quit and then say well that's how it is "the OR eats its own". I don't know how she lives with herself. The school already cut her down to 20hrs a week because they want her to quit. But she keeps on coming back and taking it out on her students and talking bad about the CEO who is doing her best. And no one else will hire her probably. Its really sad to pay this much and have only one instructor and have them be so mean and miserable. I would never recommend this program until they get an actual teacher and not a hateful clock rider that could careless."

"I highly recommend Fortis College. I thank God, my family, as well as my nursing instructors who believe in me. I believe that being in nursing school it is very challenging. I realized being a nurse takes a lot of efforts, challenges, patience, and grace to overcome each challege but with the right attidute, the right fellow students, and the right instructors who are passionate about nursing, you can managed to get into the end. The nursing instructor not only teach you textbook material, they help you see out of the box, and help you change the way your mind processes, (Critical thinking)The Director of Nursing did provided all the educational tools needed to successed. Its a lot to study, you are expected to give 200%, but when you take your Nclex-RN Examination and passed, then you get interviewed for a RN position in a Hospital and get hired, at that point everything that you had to study and sacrified becomes insignificant. Believe me patients will feel safe when the RN give 200% to them. You as an RN will guard your career, especially when you had gone throu a lot to get your license."

"This is by far the worst school to attend to get a nursing degree never have I ever in all my years of going to school have I ever had a teacher tell me should would not answer my question.... I thought that's what I paid you to do answer my questions"

"I attended Fortis College in hopes of landing a job as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. I have worked as CNA for nearly 20 years, so I felt this would be great to work a straight day shift job and be off every weekend. But I was in for a rude awakening. I passed all my courses in school and was thrown on an extern site that had seemingly had judged me before I got in the door good. The staff at Fortis College did not try to place you on site that would prepare you for success they just threw you somewhere. I did not get hired when my externship was completed. I worked harder than the real workers worked sadly. I did their jobs while they gave me orders. I completed the needed amount of hours. I passed the Certification Exam on the first testing. I felt I done everything right. But I am still working 2 jobs as a CNA because no one will hire me. I have wasted gas, time, and money going on several interviews to be told they chose another candidate. I am truly dissapointed with myself for choosing Fortis College. Now, I am stuck with a student loan to pay back and no job as a Medical Assistant. I strongly suggest do your research before enrolling at this school. I would have been so much better off attending a Community College and obtaining my LPN and landing a job instantly after passing my test. Everyone who I tell my story laughs at me because they say it is "Gimmick" and I got played."

"My former job at a manufacturing company moved out of the country. Because of this I had an opportunity to go back to school that was paid for. Out of all the schools I could have picked, I picked Fortis College. I have a 3.5 GPA and I need to pass the HESI exit to pass the school. I have taken the Hesi Exit several times now and I have came close but not close enough. When I signed up for this school I thought if I passed every class and did everything I was suppose to like a 3.5 GPA and a Kaplan predictor score of 86%, which means if I took the NCLEX boards most likely I would pass. This school has cost 48k and now they want me to pay more to take a class (Capstone) over I passed with A-, I should not have to pay anymore money. I am going to take Capstone over but I think I should not have to pay for a class I got a A- in. IS CAPSTONE going to help me pass my HESI EXIT? Only time will tell......wish me luck!"
