"Grand Valley advertises a Hybrid MSOT program that takes 3 years and is designed for adult learners with families and other commitments. The program has been on the decline with unqualified professors who have little experience practicing OT or professing it. They demonstrate bias grading practices and poor leadership within the program. GVSU cannot secure fieldwork placements for students locally because they have developed poor and strained relationships with OTs in the immediate community. Save your money and your sanity and apply elsewhere. With multiple other MSOT programs in the area, GVSU will likely fall off the map and see a decline in admissions since there is minimal effort on the young staff to continue with program development. My education did not prepare me for my career. Multiple courses in my major were taught by first time professors and were recent past students. (Mid 20s, in the field for 2 years). Such professors had no oversight from seasoned professors and as a result, students suffered."

"GVSU provides a strong entry-level program for students interested in theory related to occupational therapy. For the size of the program, professors make a reasonable effort to learn personal details about their students, such as interests, and learning styles, to help tailor the learning experience. Some semesters are challenging with minimal professor collaboration, and more challenging grading, but this is to benefit students as they prepare to enter the work force. Clinical skills vary with each professor. Many are strong theory educators, and a few are profoundly talented instructors in the real life skills students will need as professionals. Community respect for the program varies."

"Grand Valley State University is a wonderful university to attend. The professors go above and beyond their course of duty. Always willing to work with students to understand material and taking a personal interest in each and every student. It was wonderful to attend a university where I wasn't just a student in the crowd. Each professor knew my name and took a personal interest in me. My critical thinking skills have grown since attending GVSU and I continue to grow in my academics and as a person."

"The program has been fantastically designed to follow a developmental sequence. The faculty are encouraging and supportive, and overwhelmingly knowledgeable."

"Pros: Great certification pass rates, faculty who cares, variety of learning opportunities, overall the best program in Michigan Cons: Expensive or limited parking due to downtown city campus"

"The occupational therapy program at GVSU is a competitive program and has the highest pass rate of the NBCOT in Michigan. This program prepares you for post-graduate success by having students work in the community and offers a wide variety of field work experiences."

"This is a very good program and you learn a lot, but the work load is heavy. Be prepared not to have a life outside of school work for the next few years. But the reward will be worth it in the end."
