"Pros: faculty who are very interested in teaching, state-of-the-art facilities, opportunities for research and graduate assistantships. Cons: Parking is not ideal, workload is very strenuous."

"The only aspect of the Master's of Social Work program are that all the classes are at night. My job is also at night, so there were conflicts in scheduling as I acclimated to the program. The pros are that you have a good variety of classes to choose from as you narrow your focus. I have also had great experiences with the faculty at Grand Valley."

"Staff and faculty are great and helpful. I just wish there were more financial aid available to graduate students when it is so expensive to attend."

"The Grand Valley State University Physician Assistant Graduate program is a fantastic program with so much to offer. It's located in the heart of Grand Rapids, directly on medical mile. We have access to many different health care offices and hospitals; this will allow us to maximize our education in diverse settings. This program also requires students to partipate in a research study. We will choose a topic of our choice and spend the length of Physician Assistant program studying our specific topic. This will allow us to gain further knowledge in the medical world and possibly discover something new. The only downfall to the program is the lack of financial help or scholarship opportunities. For such a demanding program with high expenses, I wish there were more medical scholarships available."

"The curriculum is hands on. You learn how to get a job and what to do once you have received a job in your field. The social work program is alot of counseling and more of the direct care work which I love. It lacks a little on the administrative part of my field though."

"I feel the graduate program here at GVSU is excellent in a number of different ways. The number of students that are enrolled in the required graduate courses are composed of no more than a hand full of students. This allowed myself, and the other graduate students, to form a more personal relationship with not only each other but also the professors teaching the courses. In every class I took the professor knew me by my first name. Furthermore, most of the professors have an open door policy in which a student can stop by their office at any time with questions or concerns. The facilities at GVSU are state of the art and new buildings are constantly being built. I have no regrets choosing GVSU for my graduate studies and I feel GVSU has further prepared me for my future career in the real world."

"The Advanced Generalist Master of Social Work program at Grand Valley really allows the student to become a well-rounded social worker. It's great to have experience in both micro and macro work, and allows the student to have many options once they enter the field. While the field placement is long and there is only one location, it really gives us a chance to form a valuable relationship with our site, and encourages networking with future employers. Grand Valley is a great school!"

"GVSU has a fantastic physical therapy program. The faculty always have an open door policy, and genuinely care that students understand the material. They are all willing to go above and beyond to teach as much about the field of physical therapy, both in and out of the classroom. Emphasis is not only on putting the patient first and educating them on health matters, but on practicing with purpose based on evidence in the literature. The program is structured well in terms of course load and progression, and filters in clinical education experiences at appropriate and regular times. I feel that this program is preparing me for working in numerous physical therapy settings, so that I have the skill set to work with a variety of patients who need therapy care."

"I believe that the school provides good education for the value. Some of the professors are adjunct, so they are not as invested in your education as those that are full time tenure professors.I enrolled because I was not ready to choose a specialty and GVSU offers an advanced generalist degree."
