"I am recently enrolled in the law program, however to date the faculty has been very accommodating. While you are expected to pull your own weight the staff is there to help you succeed."

"I love that the faculty and staff are so helpful and engaging. They make each student feel that they matter and not just another tuition paying law student. The career services office is above-par. The career services staff take a genuine interest in the success of each student. I love the programming that the office puts on, bringing in professional from various types of legal fields to come and speak about their positions and how they got there. The only thing that I dislike about the program is parking. Everything else it great, the Dean is a wonderful person, full of experience and wisdom that he selflessly is willing to share with anyone who engages. Hamline University School of Law is great."

"I am enrolled in the low residency program and it makes it very easy to continue with a normal life and work like an actual writer would. The cons of the school are the temperature in the winter. Being in Minnesota, the winters are very harsh. The campus however is small and works well with the winter weather."

"This program makes me feel like I belong in the "family" of writers. This is the best place for support and acceptance in the writing community."

"Hamline is a good school with highly qualified graduate faculty and well-developed academic programs. There is a cost, but it is money well-spent."

"I have taken three classes so far and one, which was team taught, was phenomenal. The other two were not taught by what I would consider to be high quality professors. When I complained about the first class, I was not allowed to retake the course for credit; I needed to complete the requirements of the class, having learned nothing, and was given an opportunity to audit a future course. When I tried to contact the department chair about my dissatisfaction with the response, she never got back to me. Hamline has a great reputation and I still look forward to future courses. I am hopeful there are better professors from whom I can learn a great deal. In addition, it was the most affordable program in the area."

"Hamline University was the first place I considered to consider my studies in Creative Writing because of their excellent program, proven publishing record, and wonderful faculty and staff. I have never since regretted my decision and am fully satisfied with the masters-level education and instruction I am receiving."

"The pros: I will be able to get my certification license and teach at a school that I really like. Cons: Very expensive."

"Overall the program is well-run, but there is quite a bit of variation across classes in terms of academic rigor. I would recommend it for local students who wouldn't need to relocate and can easily commute."

"Hamline's Creative Writing MFA program offers a wide variety and extensive look at Creative Writing. As a student, I've been taken through different genres (fiction, CNF, and poetry) and allowed to access material pertinent to my own writing style. Faculty are all very nice, encouraging, and well-read. My peers are top-notch classmates and friends, and I'm very satisfied with the group. On the con side, various courses are often loaded into the same semester (Spring or Fall) per annum, so it can be annoying to try and balance your desired classes and complete the program, I think, in the general 2.5 year range. The location can be a traipse to access (off Snelling in St. Paul, MN), but isn't overly difficult (easy access to bus lines, etc)."

"The first class you take as an education grad student is explorations. It is a course that explores reflection, building community and learning theories. It was extremely beneficial and has already changed the way I teach in a major way. Amazing faculty!"
