Student & Graduate Reviews (1)

Degree: Graphic Design
Graduation Year: 2014

I started out in the Graphics Program as just a filler for Photography, but grew to love it within the first month. I was taught in depth about advertisement and how it was created along with great techniques and skills the professionals use. By the time I was a second year in the program I was amazed by the professors giving us more free range as artists and designers. Still following a set of standard rules we were given the opportunity to fix problems on our own. I found my professors very encouraging, one in particular pushed me to be better and challenged me the most when it came to online Graphic Design. Although I'm not sure if he has retired, I do thank Terry Juhl for being the wisest and strongest professor. He was always looking for new techniques to add to our skills and give us tips to learn before hand when we would enter the work force. We were even given the chance to meet other Graphic Designers that new of Hawkeye Community College. I was given tours of companies and had many one on one conversations with the professionals by asking personal business questions about their jobs and what others look for in students who graduate. Thanks to Hawkeye giving me all these opportunities not only in the class room but outside as well I have been more confident and have gained other skills to help my chances of a career. I hope to comment again soon with a thumbs up to a job opportunity after I graduate from the Photography program as well.
