"Some professors explain things in a simple way while others explain things in complicated ways. There is usually around 100 to 200 pages of reading each week. They give scholarships to 90% of incoming students but only 40% can keep 100% of the scholarships."

"My graduate program will aid me in preparing and sitting for New York Bar exams. Meanwhile, it has availed me the opportunity to be educated in American legal system, and hence my becoming conversant with the way law profession is done here in Nigeria. Being a foreign lawyer, Nigerian lawyer, the program is a challenge for me in the sense that I am faced with a legal system with drastic different with my home country's legal system, and with a short period of time (8 months from now), to get the vast knowledge of this system. I am also faced with a high cost of the program, the tuition fee, though it is worth it."

"It is difficult to find a job with a law degree these days. The town of Hempstead is dangerous so you cannot go out in the surrounding area. However, I feel like I got a great education."

"The faculty have been very approachable outside the classroom, and are always willing to help you succeed. The quality of most of the faculty is good to excellent--there are a few bad apples, as there are in any academic setting. Office of Career Services tries to help with career placement, but most of the time the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing in that office. Also, there are few opportunities for students to network with alums and attorneys, or one another (there is a definite lack of interaction among sections). The campus is beautiful, but Hempstead is the polar opposite. The cost of living is outrageous for such a lousy area, and living on or off campus will cost you about $6000/semester."

"Very competitive, not the best record regarding safety and the surrounding area. Not the best resources and teachers are very hit or miss."

"The staff is very helpful and accessible. Taking public transportation to the school, depending on where you live is a task. The students are helpful and want to see each other succeed. Professor Sample is possibly the schools most precious gem."

"It is an academically rigorous program that teaches you not only to necessary knowledge necessary to pass the Bar and practice law, but also how to ACTUALLY BE a lawyer."

"Hofstra's school of law is s highly competitive, quality academic program. The school has done a great job preparing me to be a lawyer, something I certainly was not ready to do upon beginning law school. The school does have its drawbacks since Hempstead is not the most wonderful area on Long Island. However, the transportation available and location near New York City is definitely attractive. I am a commuter student and although traffic on Long Island can be frustrating at times, it is usually easy to get to and from Hofstra. It offers a quality social life near campus and its proximity to the city gives students the opportunity to go into the city easily whenever they please. Overall the Law School has been a great experience for me and though there may be some "better" schools in New York, my experience at Hofstra has been extremely positive and I am glad I chose Hofstra as my law school."
