"Howard is a great place to explore one's identity. While at first glance, one might think it's simply a "Black" school, it is much more. The diversity of thought, culture, race, and intra-racial experiences inspires students to question the world around them in ways that they would not have imagined on their own. Also, the faculty is filled with professors and scholars who are truly invested in the lives and progress of the University's students. Overall, Howard University is a transformative place, and with access to ample opportunities."

"Attending Howard was one of the greatest experience of my life. From schoolmates to Professors the networking reach is bar none. I feel pride to be amongst Howardites, the shared experience and strength gives me pride. Howard taught me to be proud of who I am, a Afro-Caribbean woman, love that I come from a long line of strong people. Howard taught me to love my history, my people, and ensure that I give back to this world more than I take from it. As much as I love Howard, it is not without fault, administration is an headache, but trust, if you can deal with the "A" building, there is nothing you cannot deal with. I have learned resisliencey and to never take no for an answer. Trust me, there is nothing a Howard woman cannot do."

"While some students struggle with indecisiveness on attending college/graduate school, others decide to further their academic career with hopes of even greater career opportunities. I decided to attend Howard University's School of Communications to pursue a degree in Public Relations Journalism. The program exceeded all of my expectations and left me with a different perspective of myself as well as my potential in the field of communications. I was well equipped with the professional portfolio, networking skills, and references. I used Howard University's resources and applied all of my professors' lectures and words of encouragement to position myself so that I could stand out in such a competitive marketplace. Howard University is an experience that I will never forget, if you don't gain anything from this university, you gain a sense of confidence and the motivation to be your greatest self."

Degree: Performing Arts
Graduation Year: 2012
"Although I majored in a concentration writing, the Division of Fine Arts, my matriculation was well rounded with the diverse options I had in my general education courses. With a minor in Journalism, I quickly learned how great of a city D.C. is for any aspiring writer, reporter AND performing artist."

"My overall experience at Howard University was amazing! The amount of networking opportunities that students are awarded allow the university to stand out among others. Aside from the networking opportunities, my favorite aspect of Howard University is by-far the tight-knit community between faculty and students."

Graduation Year: 1999
"Howard University was a great school. The lessons that I learned about being confident and proud of who I was and where I come from was absolutely priceless. Although it was 1999 when I graduated, I still remember hanging out in "The Yard," step shows, the library and reading books about African American history. My education program was excellent and I remember how I cultivated my love for teaching. It was an excellent experience and I am glad that I made Howard University my choice."

"Howard teaches the student to be in charge, be persistent, be relentless, and follow-up. Half of the time you have to teach yourself the classroom material, you have to constantly follow-up with professors to grade papers and let you know where you stand academically in the class, you have to skip class to go to the financial aid office 10 consecutive days in a row to make sure your application and/or refund will be processed within efficient time. Howard definitely prepares you for the grind of the Real World!"
