"The Ethnic Studies major and program is an extremely well rounded and dynamic program. It's a program that was built through the interdisciplinary study of US Government, Ethnicity, Power and Privilege, Class, and Queer & Gender Studies. This program is a great fit for those who are interested in the realm of politics, policy making, social work, law school, teaching, or pursuing a masters in either Gender and Sexuality Studies, Ethnic Studies (such as African Studies, Chicano Studies, Native American Studies, etc), Psychology, Sociology, etc. The professors are very involved in their specialties and many are activists in their own communities. This program was very integral in my development as a Community Activist and developing my passion for Law. I would recommend this program for anyone is passionate about alleviating societal injustices or pursuing a career in the fields of justice such as Law, local and larger scale activism, the justice system, etc."

"Looking back I think the education I received from Humboldt State University was really intricate compared to other universities. The local area attracts instructors from all over the world very distinct perspectives that I feel contribute to a very in-depth education. Especially from an international standpoint, HSU promotes a global focus, a focus you can truly feel even though it is a small university. Studying abroad, I met many people who knew this school and its reputation for sustainability as well as the university's focus activism. I think if you think "outside the box" this is a great place to learn"

"HSU has an excellent botany program. The school itself is small and not very well funded (well, it got a large grant not too long ago, but it was all blown on a new stadium), yet somehow it attracts some of the best faculty you can find. It is also one of the few universities to offer courses specialized courses in mycology, soil science and forest pathology, which is what drew me to it. When I applied for grad school at Berkeley and said I had taken classes with Terry Henkel, I was told they'd love to have any student of his. I can't speak for majors outside of the biology department, and any kind of beaurocratic endeavors are like pulling teeth, but a wonderful place to study science. Also, lots of field trips and hands-on learning!"

"Humboldt taught me to adopt a global, social- and environmental-centered mindset. I feel this helps guide my career choices and actions for the better on both personal, professional and community levels."

"Loved college. If I could have made a career at Boeing as a student I would have."
