"I really enjoyed the whole experience. My Masters degree was all online so I didn't have much class room experience there."

"Cons: It's a coin-flip between getting professors that will offer help when asked and those who won't. You will get a lot of homework (and not a lot of sleep)! If you're a Graduate Assistant sometimes you will be assigned an unreasonable amount of work for a faculty project. Pros: The program is small, so you will get to know everyone. By the time you graduate you will be proficient in all different types of mathematics software and programming languages."

"IUP is a beautiful, mid-sized school with a multitude of quality professors. The campus is close to Pittsburgh, but still rural enough to avoid the large crowds and traffic that comes with the city. The dining options are excellent, with a variety of choices and locations. Recently, IUP added a number of brand-new dorm buildings."

"Iup was a great college. The advisors did their best to get you out in 4 years. The college spends money to keep buildings clean and up to date. The campus and town provide affordable living options."

"The business college was a fantastic place to learn. It was cutting edge and the student life was fantastic. The school offered many scholastic clubs and amateur sports activities to keep everyone busy and involved in student life."

"I loved going to IUP because of the professors, especially in the history department. I was in the honors track and was able to conduct original research and contribute to my field. I was involved in many clubs, for sports and for academics. I love the campus and the people. It was a great experience!"

"As a high school senior getting ready to start my collegial journey, I never thought I would end up at IUP, until I toured. I toured around a few colleges I thought I would like, but it wasn’t until I came to IUP that I felt like I could see myself going to this college. The campus is absolutely beautiful, with new buildings going up, and old ones being renovated everything has a stunning modern feel. Academics 5/5 I am enrolled in the nursing program at IUP, and it has been the best learning experiences of my life. For my anatomy lab we are one of few colleges that are able to study a human cadaver. It is an amazing learning opportunity that’s not available to most students. Also, I am able go up to 6 different hospitals/homes around the area for my clinical rotations, which really helps me for my future job career. Overall, IUP has an 18:1 student to faculty ratio, really making the opportunity to excel quite easily. Every professor I have had in the past two semesters are more than willing to help you in your classes and genuinely want to see you pass. Student Life 4/5 Now that Indiana is my new home I really like going out to explore and to see what it has to offer. Indiana is a college town so most of the town is geared to accommodate the students. With roughly 15,000 students enrolled at IUP there are groups and activities for everyone, you would have to try to not make friends. My favorite thing about the town is that it is a perfect combination of town and rural life all in one. I can be in town on Philadelphia Street and feel like I’m in a mini city, but a ten minute car ride later I can be going on a hike through the woods or fishing at Yellowcreek. One thing that I wish IUP offered would be a bigger sports scene. Sports are taken seriously but I would much rather have a D1 sports class. Living arrangements 5/5 Out of every dorm I have scene, IUP by far has the nicest, and biggest. Every room comes with its own bathroom, which is my favorite feature. My roommate transferred after the first semester so now I get to have the whole room to myself, which is pretty awesome. Most of the dorms have been built in the past decade so you know that you are getting what you are paying for. After freshmen year you can choose to live on or off campus, there are plenty places to live either route you go, but the dorms are almost twice the cost of what I'm paying for off campus living next year. Price 3/5 IUP is definitely one of the cheaper schools out there, but not the cheapest. On the bright side, at Iup you get to pay one flat tuition price, not by credit. It all depends on if you want to get more credits for your price. There are tons of scholarship opportunities for both academics and sports you just have to find them. Also, like I said earlier, the dorms are expensive, but you can always live off campus after your first year. Overall Recommendation All in all, I love the school that I choose, and wouldn’t want to transfer to anywhere else. IUP offers everything that I wanted in a university, and I’m sure it can cater to your preferences too. In a final overall assessment, I would give IUP a 5/5 star rating and recommend it to anyone, because it has so much to offer while still being a smaller sized university."

  • Degree: Exercise Science
"The Sport Science program at IUP is divided into three categories. I am in the Exercise Science track. Pros of the Master of Sport Science program include the variety of classes available to students. There are core classes everyone has to take and there are elective classes of all kinds with topics that interest a variety of people. The professors are also kind and try to teach new information to students. I am in with a good group of students. Class sizes are small so you get to know everyone. Cons are the evening classes. This is great if you work during the day, but by that time in the day everyone is tired and ready to be done with class before it even starts. Some of the grad classes are combined with the undergrad classes. It makes the work easier, but it also means you are paying more money to learn less. A few Graduate Assistantships are available, but there are not enough for everyone."

"The pros and cons of Safety Science revolves around the elimination of hazards and risks that may pose potential threats to humans ranging from environmental, industrial, mechanical and construction hazards to mention a few. My graduate program is designed to prepare highly qualified individuals for careers in the safety, health, and environmental (SHE) profession, conduct SHE research, and to develop industry partnerships to further enhance the profession."

"The graduate program is very challenging but at the same time very rewarding. The challenge of the program enhances the experience you get out of the graduate school. With the program being somewhat small the only negative aspect would be the lack of class selection."

"Like you expect from any graduate program in clinical psychology there are pros and cons. The school is in a rural area over an hour from Pittsburgh and while there are good outdoor activities there's little in the way of city entertainment. Now a con that I imagine almost every school is the actual level of grad student support. Most of the resources come from upper classmen which is great in that respect but we are often left wondering what is going on at a faculty level. The program is small (15ish students per cohort) which allows for lots of individual attention but also leaves people wanting for more electives."

"Although Indiana, PA is fairly isolated, this program offers many networking opportunities for this field of work. Like most educational endeavors, this program is what you make it - there is a lot that can be accomplished here but you need to put forth the effort. This area is not very diverse and there is definitely an overarching small-town mentality throughout the downtown and surrounding areas. The housing and cost of living is fairly manageable through school loans and part time work. Scholarship is competitive and I am hoping to raise enough funds through outside scholarship to continue earning my degree."

"I fell in love with this graduate program because of the way they have set up the courses. I have the ability to complete two full semesters of internship experience during my last two semesters. This will give me more hands-on experience to broaden my knowledge base. The one thing that kind of turned me away from this grad school was the their lack of some technology that other grad schools offered. However, this school will certainly give me the challenge I am looking for."

"Pro: Professors are great at what they do. They know how to prepare the student to succeed in the real world after graduation. Con: To many different tracks and there is one professor you should avoid at all cost. If you get him you will know."
