Unfortunately for the working adult learner, the fast paced format and course load make it almost impossible to retain a majority of the information being taught. I am certain that if I were a full-time student without work responsibilities and commitments, this program would have been more beneficial to me in the retention of communication content. Despite that I was unable to retain a majority of the information being taught, my ability to keep up with the busywork in each module allowed me to remain on the Dean’s list each semester. Like many of us who are working full time while attending class, many adjunct professors likewise worked secondary full-time jobs, which I feel limited their interaction and communication with the students. Feedback and grading was not always timely, which included questions pertaining to specific course assignments and content. In some instances, I received feedback on assignments too late into the course to incorporate the recommendations into my work for future assignments. That aside, all the professors were extraordinarily professional, knowledgeable, and helpful in assisting students in reaching their goals. Overall, I was able to successfully able to complete the Communication Program at King University and would recommend the program to others, especially those not engaged in full-time work commitments.

I cannot say enough about the genuine kindness of the admissions office and their staff. A student worker introduced me to the Communication program during my first visit to campus. I had previously studied Psychology but I wanted to study something different, and after leaving the office that day I knew I wanted to be a Communication major. The admissions staff was quick to answer all my questions and help me get prepared. They were also of great assistance during the financial aid process. I had defaulted on previous federal student loans and had to seek a third party to consolidate, which required a lot of paperwork. The staff at King University was prompt and efficient in helping me gather paperwork. The financial aid was average, but easy to understand. The staff helps you understand your package and makes accepting your awards simple. I emailed someone two different times to change the amount of awards I wanted and she was quick to respond and change my package so I could edit it. I was in shock of how efficient they were. I have been to four different colleges across the United States (due to moving), and none can compare to the staff at King University. The online Communication program is adult oriented and fast paced. There is a new class every five weeks, which allows you to finish quicker. The professors know that you have a life outside of the classroom, so they make the workload realistic. Do not mistake the word realistic for “easy” because you cannot slack on the assignments or you will fail, it’s really that simple. The professor makes it easy for you to balance the load by providing a list of what is due and when. Typically half of the assignments are due on Wednesdays and the other half is due on Sunday. This schedule is great for me because it allows me to put homework off until the weekend if need be. However, you can also work ahead and have your weekend free. So, would I recommend King University’s online Communication program? Absolutely, I have finally found the place that is right for me. Furthermore, being in my second semester myself, I can see without their input that the knowledge I am being presented with is clearly thought out, well researched, and easy to understand if you have a mind for understanding how people communicate and what meaning we create from this. This degree is extremely open to interpretation by employers, and therefore one has many opportunities for job applications once graduated. King University has an extremely high job placement record for their graduates, 92% when I researched it 6 months ago. This college is a Presbyterian based university with options to continue into a Master's program if one were so inclined, and its facilities are well maintained and professional, complete with a library and computers to work on. The price point is very fair, costing far less than other state run universities and allowing for grants and loans through federal aid (FAFSA) if one needs help. Lastly, the classes are on the smaller side, my class having 10 people, and in my opinion this is wonderful as it allows for group discussions and teamwork while creating a sense of being heard and listened to in the classroom. This also allows for more assistance from the professors and more attention to detail when questions arise about assignments or readings.
