"I attended Linfield from the start. Two years at the main campus in McMinnville and two years at the nursing campus in Portland. The main campus is wonderful. Full of student life, new friendships, and a supportive community. Since the nursing campus is considerably smaller and is a transfer program, not everyone lives on campus anymore, so the student life is lacking. Many efforts are made for fun activities, but it is just difficult when so many of us commute and don't live on campus. Everyone in the financial office at Linfield does an amazing job. Linfield offers generous amounts of scholarship opportunities and the financial staff is great with answering questions and working directly with the student. At Linfield you are not "just a number." The class sizes are small, your professors know you by name and you get the opportunity to really connect with your classmates and support each other through the challenges of nursing school. There are only two complaints I have with Linfield. First and foremost, the amount of clinical time we get. This is a BSN program, but we get less clinical experiences than an associate program RN. We spend an entire year in long term care. I honestly didn't feel like I started progressing until the third semester. Even then at clinical rotations, preceptors would say "wow, you haven't done this yet?" or "you really don't know how to do this?" All boiling down to the lack of clinical-hands-on experience. My second complaint, is the lack of staff support. Although there are many great professors that were supportive, several had little faith in students. It seems that the attitude is that if you are struggling in a class, then you don't deserve to be there and "nursing isn't for you." I have had my share of struggles throughout the program but I did it and I ended up on top! It would have been nice to have more support. Overall Linfield is a great school and I will always have great memories and experiences to hold on to forever."

"Linfield Good Samaritan School of Nursing is one of the accredited colleges that I am grateful to be one of its students. After 2 years attending the nursing program at Linfield College, my knowledge has been fulfilled by professional instructors who also are compassionate and dedicated nurses. All the instructors always want to help students succeed in their choice of career. Before students come to the class, the instructors will assign them specific objects to be completed in order to help students understand the upcoming lesson better. During the class hour, students are encouraged to develop their creativity via questions, group activities, or group discussions. Beside that, Linfield school also ensures to prepare students essential knowledge and clinical skills before assigning them to hospitals or skilled nursing homes for clinical practicum. The school tries to update textbooks and evidence-based practice every year, so students will be not behind. In addition, all the staff from accounting service, financial aid, computer lab and clinical lab always put students' benefit in the priority. If you want to become a knowledgeable and creative nurse, you should think of Linfield."

"Going to Linfield College School of Nursing requires most of your time and dedication to become successful. Taking tests can be a challenge, but never give. Always ask for help because most instructors are willing to help you."

"I am currently in the last semester at Linfield Nursing College and I am happy to tell about my experience at Linfield. As a nursing student, I think I may not have as much training in skills due to clinical time limitation , but to me Linfiled BSN program is considered a good one compared to any of the other BSN programs around Portland. Linfield's not perfect, but every nursing program has its strengths and disadvantages. I still remember my feeling when I first started the program. It was so overwhelmed in nursing school of all the hands-on skills that we had to learn.But as I continued through the program and starting working in the hospitals and doing my senior practicum, I realized I have learned many useful skills that help me go through each semester and become necessary experiences for my future career.I personally am very happy to have been educated at Linfield. The program helps nursing students have chances to contact to all filed of nursing, especially the psych-mental health nursing. What was hard to realize in nursing school was; developing my critical thinking skills was more important. Linfield does an excellent job at this. Critical Thinking in nursing may be an abstract concept to me when I was a pre nursing student before, but in a nutshell it is helping me see the bigger picture in patient care. I know every nursing program has its own strengths and weakness. With Linfiled nursing program, I really love what I have learn from it , the diversity, character depth and the critical thinking skills. The only disadvantage of Linfield nursing program, from my opinion, is that it emphasizes too much on writing papers that take so much time for students. I would like to have this time budget for doing clinical and reading medical books."
