"The pros in LSU are: good Faculty members of high intellectual potentials, friendly environment between Faculty and students, scholarships from outside. The school fee is expensive year by year."

"Good: you will get lots of diverse students, friendly faculty, less stress and safe environment. Bad: Courses offered for grad students are not that good or updated, the cost of living is too high and financial aid or stipend for grad student is ridiculously low. I will never recommend my friends or juniors to attend to LSU (I chose because of its ranking, 144 in US, but after coming here I came to know ranking means nothing, unless it's in top 20)."

"This is a good choice for studying as a graduate student. The campus is very beautiful and people are very nice. Students can get lots of help from the department. However, there are not many job opportunities for students to choose."

"All CHE courses have to be taken during the first year, and the PhD qualifier examination is given at the end of this year. Courses are kind of tough and require full time dedication and studying hard. A minimum GPA of 3.25 must be achieved in the core courses for the student to be eligible to take the qualifier exam. Students are assigned to advisers at the end of their first semester, and start working on their research. All and all, first year is tough. From second year, students will be more focused on their research. About campus: nice warm weather, hot summers, the campus is OK, some buildings are old but renovation is in progress. All and all, I'm satisfied, especially with the CHE grad program."

"Great program. Great faculty. Yearly stipend is not high enough to support cost of living in Baton Rouge and no outside job is allowed will enrolled in the program. I have completed 1.5 years in the program so far and have had to spend about $4,000 of my personal savings since I've been here to make ends meet. Also, Choppin Hall and Williams Hall need some serious maintenance updates."

"The pros are the fact that the faculty expect a high level of professionalism and push us towards getting higher results both in courses and research. This helps in excellent professional development and is also evident from the graduate alumni. The cons are the administration and welfare. The health care was taken from students this year and the fees (which come out of our stipend) are ever increasing causing an additional burden on students. The administration in general are also slow in taking decisions."

"The university's academic programming was challenging, yet reasonable. I really believed that the quality of instructors offered at Louisiana State University (LSU) made a huge impact on student learning. The courses were diverse in content and approach, which accommodated a wide range of students. Student involvement in service organizations was impressive. Many of the undergraduates gave back to the community or university in some fashion. The academic counselors and diversity directors were very helpful throughout the entire experience. My only regret is that the university was not as diverse as I would have liked it to be. There were large numbers of racially separate student organizations. Overall, I think it is a wonderful school to attend, and it will offer you a lifetime of memories, both socially and academically."

"The environment created by administrators and staff at LSU's School of Social Work was highly engaging and supported my desire for academic challenges. It was not, however, insurmountably difficult to obtain a degree in this particular college. If you're looking more for social opportunities, they've got that covered too. I joined three separate organizations on campus within this college and was highly satisfied with the many opportunities to socialize with classmates."

"After four years at L.S.U., I feel that I was completely prepared for the world of teaching. My professors knew what was demanded in a school setting, and my experiences gave me the confidence to move forward as a teacher. My content knowledge and training helped me pass the PRAXIS the first time, and I felt ready to take on any school experience."

"The IE department is small compared to the other engineering departments. While this means there are limited courses offered, it is nice to have a very close group of faculty and students."

"LSU is an exciting place to be, both socially and academically. Despite the state's financial troubles, there are still great faculty who care deeply about student learning. And LSU is certainly far more affordable than many other state universities- I, along with many of my friends who attended LSU, never had to take out student loans and have little to no debt."
