"I am currently attending LMU through the Teach for America extension program and I am being prepared to be a teacher through the Master's program in Urban Education. The program uses real life experiences that happen in the classroom which is helpful to us because we can put them to practice. Other programs use theory as a teaching method and this wouldv'e been hard because we are already teachers. As an acting teacher we cant throw theory at our students and hope that they understand it and work more efficiently. Working in low income schools requires actual practice to strengthen your craft as a teacher. The teachers at the Northern California campus are understanding that we are already in our profession and they help us reach our potential by guiding us, mentoring us, and even taking time to come and visit us in the classroom and give us first hand advice."

"The Urban Education program at LMU is full of professors who understand that teaching full-time while taking classes is tough. Therefore, they work with each student to ensure that the content in the class is applicable to what is being done inside of our classrooms. Many of the things I learned in class could be applied the very next day. I felt supported and encouraged to try new things. I was, however, not impressed with LMU's Financial Aid office as they were not good at communicating nor did they seem interested in helping me ensure that I was doing things correctly. In my last semester, I did not receive aid because I was given incorrect information."

"Exciting new master degree program. First in the nation. Only LMU could create this quality program."

"The LMU staff were incredibly supportive and responsive throughout my time as a graduate student. The TFA-LMU partnership is specifically designed to support Teach for America corps members throughout the credentialing process. To this end, the program does a solid job of providing students with basic teaching skills, as well as access to valuable resources. However, the quality of the courses is spotty; some classes seemed sloppily put-together, with little emphasis on guiding students to meaningfully learn about content."
