"Maryville College is a vibrant and wonderful place despite the attempts to reduce this. It has a thriving campus life, incredibly invested professors, and a beautiful setting to engage in learning. That being said, the administration has been removing student seating, reducing student activity budgets, and denying events at the desire to maximize donors and the appearance of the school by removing the student population from the marketing. They focus solely on admissions numbers, and gradually care less and less about enrolled and current students.Read Less"

"I attended Maryville College for 3 years, after transferring from a different college after my freshman year. I loved the physical campus atmosphere. It was well blended with nature and old, historic style buildings. Everything was within walking distance, driving was not required to attend a class. For the academics, I was very impressed. I strongly feel that Maryville College not only immersed students in their respective subjects, but in my experience, they also teach you how to think. Multiple teachers would push us by simply asking "why" when we believed in a certain answer, and challenged us on those thoughts. Also, unless I am mistaken, every professor is required to have a doctorate related to the field they are teaching, and most were older with years of relevant experience.Read Less"

"I'm overall satisfied with my time at MC, especially my core/GenEd classes (I struggled with those at another university, but the faculty at MC really helped me understand the topics). Regarding my degree-focused classes, however, I constantly felt unheard or at-odds with many of my faculty. I was attending as an instrumental music major, and this school is NOT geared towards those in that track - it is a choral-focused college. I love many things about the school and my time there, but the music department (and the alum outreach, now that I've graduated) have not been helpful at all in my career or day-to-day life.Read Less"

"Maryville College is a wonderful institution that offers a wide variety of majors and minors. I loved the small classroom size which created an ability to create strong student-professor bonds. The college always feels like a community where one can feel at home almost always. Maryville will always have a special place in my heart. Go Scots!"

"Maryville College provided me with a sound liberal arts education. I am thankful to the professors that took the time to invest in my education. When I entered the work force I had critical thinking skills and written skills that stood out amongst my peers. I was challenged to think critically about the world around me. The curriculum at Maryville College fully prepared me for my current graduate studies at the University of South Florida (St. Pete Campus). Maryville has a strong study abroad program. I benefited from the program. On campus I was exposed to new cultures. I had international classmates and roommates that are now friends. I also had the opportunity to study abroad which broadened my global perspective. I continue to travel and use the skills acquired in the study abroad orientation. The senior study helped me improve my research skills and academic writing. I worked one on one with a professor that evaluated and critiqued my senior thesis. This process helped me grow academically. Maryville College encourages students to become involved in the local community. I was provided many opportunities to volunteer. I was also given the space to process the injustice I saw and given tools to help fight the injustice. I continue to volunteer and use the skills acquired. Maryville College provided me life long friendships and life-long learning. I have maintained contact with my professors and friends. I continue to feel supported by the Maryville College community and look forward to homecomings.Read Less"
