"I attended Metropolitan State University of Denver from 2007-2012. I entered MSUD after being homeschooled throughout high school, and I had no idea what the college experience would be like. I found MSU Denver to be an incredibly warm, helpful and challenging institution. I enjoyed courses from all departments, but found my place in the Social Work department. The social work department had fantastic faculty and professors who were invested not only in what was happening in classes, but how each student was developing as a professional. I felt inspired in classrooms, and excited to attend every week. Social Work requires a heavy amount of reading, writing, assessment of documents, policies and societal barriers: You will be intellectually and emotionally challenged. Get ready to do some growing! I was provided excellent volunteer opportunities and internships during my time in the program, which undoubtedly led me to incredible jobs after college including Denver Health, National Jewish, Peace Corps, and at a school-health program in NYC. I am now living outside of Colorado, and will be attending graduate school at NYU this fall. MSU Denver was a wonderful undergraduate experience that gave me all of the tools and skills I needed to find a fulfilling career in social work. Thank you MSUDenver/Social Work (and Hi D. M.! "This University is in the middle of Downtown Denver in Colorado. It is 3 schools on one campus and as such the diversity is wonderful. The diversity is in age, race, gender, varying careers levels, and commuters. The instructors are help as well as knowledgeable of the material and industry. Networking is one of the strengths of this University. Networking events are held at least twice a month for all students with various companies looking for employees. In addition, mock interviews are held to assist students in preparing for interviews. The most important part is the financials, of course. It is affordable to attend this University. Financial assistance is offered to international students, immigrants, residents, and citizens. The staff works diligently to assist in finding funding for all regardless of immigration statuses. I really enjoying attending MSU Denver."

"The Metropolitan State University of Denver is an excellent place to study. The campus is very unique as is it tri-institutional, meaning that three schools share the same campus. This provides many opportunities to transfer credits and network with students from the other schools."

"Metro allowed me the freedom to take classes and work at the same time. It was really relaxed and flexible. The professors were knowledgable and truly cared about our education. The best part of the education was the professors were professionals in education (i.e. principals) or taught our classes at Denver Public Schools so we really had a lot of networking opportunities. The campus and its surrounding area doesn't have a lot of free parking options, but it is right next to the lightrail."

"Social Work at Metropolitan State University was a very good education with excellent professors. I feel that I was well prepared to join the field upon completion. Cons are they were very disorganized and they were not many opportunities to network or to be counseled on career options. I also felt that their research courses did not adequately prepare me for masters level research."

"I graduated from Metro back in 2001. Now I am down on campus again. That says a lot right there. I always felt that the professors were interested in my success. The classes were very beneficial to my career as well. I have been able to translate my schooling into a productive career. I am returning to school now to increase my earning potential."

"I was a behavioral Science Major with Elementary Education. I received a great education that prepared me to become a teacher. I got a teaching job right our of college and got a permanent teaching job this year. The classes prepared me with everything that I needed to be successful!"

"Metro is a great University to attend. As a student, you will find the staff to be friendly and helpful, always willing to assist in whatever capacity. I thought I would feel completely out of sorts as a non traditional student, but that was not the case. Everyone, even my classmates were accepting and friendly. I enjoyed my time as a student with Metro and would highly recommend them to anyone."

"The courses are taught by professionals in the industry so you gain real knowledge of what to expect upon graduation. The degree is what you make of it. Some classes are hard, and others you can skate by, but what you gain from it is what you put into it. You must really study and pay attention to pass the FE. Also, a minor in math will help prepare you for graduate school."

"I was a non-traditional student - meaning I worked full time and have a family. MSUD worked with my hectic life incredibly. What I really enjoyed in the classes was that they are very diverse -students from straight out of HS to working and even retired adults. It really made for interesting discussions in the classes. The tuition is extremely reasonable - but that doesn't mean that the instruction was lacking because of it. I have recommended this college to many people."
