"Studying Vocal Performance in the heart of New York is an amazing opportunity. Also, the program at Steinhardt is incredible and the professors are very knowledgeable and supportive. However, NYU's tuition is incredibly high. Although I received the "highest scholarship" for a graduate student, the scholarship covers less than a fourth of the tuition. As a rising Opera Singer trying to support herself in the most expensive city in the world, leaving graduate school with massive student loans is quite intimidating."

"The real value of NYU is in the opportunities that it offers - the NYC experience, networking, internships and jobs, and a diverse set of professors and classmates. The academics - at least in my program - are no better than average and the professors don't always put their knowledge/experience to best use in the classroom. So be prepared to get your education through the incredible opportunities that NYU provides because it's not going to be handed to you in the classroom."

"For me in particular, the con of this program is the communte I will have to make. Because the school is already expensive enough, living on or near campus is not an option since there is no way I would be able to afford it. Also, being that it's only a two and a half year program, it's going to be very intense and will have a heavy workload. However, NYU's occupational therapy program is one of the best in the world, so I will be getting a remarkable education out of it, which will make it all worth it."

"A great pro of my graduate program is that I am allowed to take classes from outside of my program as well, making for a well-rounded education. A big con is the cost of the program and the inaccessibility of faculty."

"The music therapy program at NYU is quite a competitive program to get into, and rightly so. With top quality professors and an extensive and caring network, students emerge with training that cannot be compared to any other. One disadvantage to this program is the limited amount of scholarship money offered to its students. Taking tuition and costs of living in a city like New York, a bit of aid for a graduate student at NYU would be nice to see."

"The Pros include helpful professors, vast educational resources, and a stimulating campus. The Cons include a hefty tuition, an extremely competitive cohort, a rapid pace in curriculum and a lack of student group cohesion."

"I love that my grad program is really specific; Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. There are some awesome professors who are passionate about what they teach and care about their studetns. However, sometimes there are administrational problems- such as not so clear direction on how to correctly drop a class. I had to go through so many loops to drop this one course, last semester, and it was awful. None the less, the location makes everything better, though."

"The pros of the Art Therapy Graduate Program at New York University is the supportive staff currently is working in their field of study professionally, beyond that of the classroom setting. In addition, the program is small and intimate at most 23 students are usually admitted, this allows for further personal attention academically. This program has a summerstudy abroad program that allows students to earn internship credit abroad and learn cultural competence and how to apply art therapy across diverse settings. Cons of the graduate program in Art Therapy have been some disorganization in securing fieldwork and internship placements that are current and up to date. However, this issue is slowly becoming resolved. There are also no scholarship opportunities awarded in this program area upon admittance to the academic program. This program could benefit by having a stronger networking system and administrative support related to the job search process prior to graduation."

"The professors have been/are still in the business and have invaluable knowledge of not only the theatre community, but the city as well."

"New York University is a great school with lots of opportunities for any career path one wants to take. The graduate program challenges students greatly and provides them with renowned faculty that has many years of experience and expertise. The only setback is the cost of the program, especially the graduate programs and lack of scholarships."

"New York University's MA Art Therapy program is rigorous and I am confident that it will allow me the opportunities to have a successful career in this field. The program is flexible and the faculty is realistic regarding the financial stresses such a program can have on an individual. As a result, they are open to negotiating a curriculum path that meets both my educational and financial needs. Lastly, the faculty is understanding and highly accomplished. I couldn't be happier with this program!"
