"I'm pursuing a Master's Degree in Social Work from NYU. The faculty are knowledgeable and we have great connections to social service agencies all throughout the city. The downside of my particular program, which is part time, is the limited ability to participate in all the school has to offer given that I also work full time."

"NYU provides an excellent community of knowledgeable professors, engaged students, and exciting field placement opportunities. It's proving to be an excellent choice in obtaining my MSW degree."

"The only con I would say is the price. It's a bit expensive. The education is superb, all the faculty is really nice and accessible. The courses are also dynamic."

"The Silver School of Social is great in that it has various pathways to obtaining The MSW Degree. There are full time, part-time, and even extended programs available depending on what type of lifestyle you are living. One con about the program is the space where the classes are held. It would be great if there was a more modern space to take classes rather than having class at annexes."

"Faculty members are absolutely amazing. They care about our education; and help anyway they can to make sure that we don't feel overwhelmed and alone. The main problem with the program is that it is expensive."

"The pros of the Masters of social work is that it is a clinically focused program, the professors are very knowledgeable in said subject and there are very intelligent and hard working students in the program. The cons of this program/NYU is the lack of scholarships available, I felt as though I didn't learn as much as I could have learned with one professor, and NYU can do better with diversity."

"I have found that the professors are (generally) helpful, responsive, and interested. They genuinely seem to want students to understand the material, and seem to care about our opinions as well. I had a health problem last semester, and my professors and the program director worked with me so that I could stay in the program. They checked in with me in class and outside of class to see how I was doing. Also, the school is in a great location, with abundant opportunity for social and cultural activities. The workload is heavy, yet interesting. However, for an older student, like myself, one might feel like a fish out of water. The majority of students in my program have come straight from college, whereas I took time off. I have found it difficult to socialize because of the 15 year age difference, and thus am not building a tight network of colleagues and contacts. I have experience in this field and often am bored in class and am sometimes appalled at the comments made by these inexperienced students. Finally, the cost of living is terribly high so I live one hour from school and was over an hour from my internship last semester."

"My graduate program is well known and will provide me with many opportunities for advancement and personal growth. One thing I hope would change is the cost of education. That would make it more accessible to other people who want to pursue a graduate level education."

"The social work program at NYU has a clinical focus. Designed to give students a solid foundation in becoming future therapists versus social work activists, the program places students in internships that foster their ability to work with a wide demographic of clients. The curriculum fosters awareness of diversity, gender, ageism, racism, and oppression and provides a solid foundation for future social workers."

"The pros of NYU are the location, the quality of the networks, confidence in job placement after graduation, excellent emphasis on clinical skills. I have met and been mentored by a couple of wonderfully brilliant professors. More pros include, great social life and cultural experiences. The biggest con about the school is the limited resources for scholarships as well as the tuition and living expenses being extremely high."

"The quality of education recieved at NYU more than makes up for the substantial workload. I have found the students and faculty to be supportive, friendly, caring, and welcoming."

"The Master's of Social Work program at NYU provides its students with lots of real-world experience. It has given me the opportunity to begin to develop into the professional social worker I hope to become. The field placement component gives the students the responsibility to take on the tasks of real-world employment while still offering the support of professors and on-campus advisors. There are very few cons to the program aside from the cost of living in New York and the price of the education."
