"Definitely one of the best MBA programs around - huge brand and a great establishment for learning. Tuition is steep however, and with a lack of financial aid, students will have to source for their own financing"

"The IMC program is so applicable to the things I do at work everyday. I truly enjoy going to class at night and find value in all of the courses I have taken so far. I highly recommend this program."

"Pros: The program offers everything that is necessary to succeed in academia as long as you take initiative as a grad student. Cons: There isn't enough mental or academic support for students when they start to falter."

"Great faculty support. Frequent visits from leading scholars from around the world to teach, give talks and conference. Comparative literature program is intellectually diverse and highly flexible to accommodate variety of interests. Great location. Half an hour away from Chicago downtown. Quiet and safe neighborhood."

"The workload on the quarter system is difficult, but Northwestern is one of the best schools in the country for a reason, with superb faculty. The access to Chicago is a great benefit. The overall value of my BA/MA program was superb, showing me to get a post-baccalaureate degree for free during college."

"Although relatively new, Northwestern's Applied Physics program is a great choice for anyone with interdisciplinary research interests because students can choose to work in labs spanning +5 departments as well as take specialized courses across disciplines. The first year work load can be intense, but AP students readily study together and help each other through. The program offers every student a fellowship, relieving AP students of teaching responsibilities during the first year of coursework and qualifying exam preparation. Cons include the windy frigid winters, mediocre campus/Tech Institute food, and occasional enmity from non-AP lab members (perhaps due to the newness of interdisciplinary research in general). Apart from a few minor caveats, all in all it is a very rewarding program."

"I'm in applied physics, and this program is perfect. We could chose advisers from all departments, and this gives us the freedom to find our real interest. People in this this program go to diverse areas."

"Pros: faculty and students frequently attend the myriad events, workshops, lectures and receptions directly funded or planned by the department. Faculty seem interested in students despite busy schedules and (sometimes) prestige. Compensation for phd students is verging on generous, if only in relation to the unlivable wage offered by other institutions. The thematic clusters that most students get involved with are a lovely opportunity to network with like-minded faculty and students in other departments. Cons: As an older institution with a reputation, there can be residual traditionalism and/or conservatism that might not always be productive. However, as new faculty are hired this will potentially fade."

"One of the greatest things about Northwestern's grad school program is the ability to take classes from other programs. I am in the sciences, but I have the ability to take a wide range of public health and business classes for free. The stipend is quite generous, and makes living in the city affordable. There is a lot to do in Chicago, and the UPass system allows for affordable transportation. One con of the program is that depending on the program you are in, not all of the classes are taught by the best lecturers. This is mainly due to the fact that the primary focus is research. However, the ability in the sciences to take classes from other biology programs and have them count towards your degree helps a lot with this."

"The PhD Linguistics Program offers five guaranteed years of funding- soon to be six. It is a competitive program with an average of around four admitted students per year. The institution is known for great empirical work and the professors are all very respected in their sub fields. However, the cost of living is rather high in Evanston and even Chicago proper, and there have been many reports of robbery of personal property and assault throughout my years there (usually at night). Overall the program is great at preparing students for academic life; however, I feel as though the program is lacking if one wishes to go into the private industry."

"Students here can freely choose advisors not only in Applied Physics but also other departments in the School of Engineering. Besides, financial aid is enough to support your life in Evanston. For the cons, it's very cold in winter!!!!!!!"

"I am a student in the Driskill Graduate Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Our program is on Northwestern's Chicago campus. The program is competitive and comprised of high quality students. I feel Northwestern provides an intense learning environment aimed at producing the next generation of independent investigators in the life sciences."

"Great professors, great program. The requirements keep shifting but as a result of the department trying to constantly shift the program to keep up with student comments and feelings. The department is very receptive to graduate student suggestions which is a huge advantage. The Chicago area is a great place to live and there is always something to do."
