"This is a degree factory, people who have no business being therapist are passed through the program without ethical consideration. There is no real cultural competency, I have had racist instructors, the faculty is all white. In my two years, I have never encountered a guest speaker of color from the mental health community. Critical ethical classes, like child abuse, domestic violence and cross-cultural competency are condensed into a weekend or a few weeks. Teachers, they do not deserve the title of professors, do the minimal in regards to instruction. My psychological assessment class was a waste of time and money, along with the psychopathology course, I have never experienced the avoidance of instructional time to this extent. We should be being prepared to properly assess, diagnose, and treat people, but we are not. Furthermore, if you are a person of color who identifies with your community you will likely feel frustrated, discouraged and lost here, especially with the limousine liberals who say all the right things sans actions."

"The Master's level Art Therapy program has been an incredible opportunity for me to dive into my deepest passions: art and psychology. This program clearly had a high level of expertise in designing a program to blend these disciplines, ensuring to prepare the graduate student of not only the intensive clinical components of the program, but also allowing students to find room to explore their personal curiosity and integrating that into the art therapy program and its assignments. By doing so, the program continued to allow each student to creatively explore how they wanted to navigate the professional world during and after graduation, (of course, with proper parameters in place, such as within our thesis research and oral presentations), providing guidance when needed, and then empowering us to trust to ourselves to step into our wiser self with the knowledge instilled within us."

"The joint graduate degree program in Marriage & Family Therapy and Art Therapy at Notre Dame de Namur is an exceptional program taught by incredible professors who are leading the field in research and publication. Classes are small, providing opportunities to truly connect with the professors and to benefit from their years of experience in the field. The continuing education program offers lectures and workshops in so many areas, with guest lecturers from around the country. Becoming a student of the MFT/Art Therapy program means you’re joining a family of passionate, creative people with whom you’ll grow into becoming the therapist you long to be!"

"NDNU's Art Therapy/MFT program in unmatched. The program has some of the best, most qualified professors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The amazing faculty truly make the entire program what it is. They work so incredibly hard in order to provide us with the best education possible, while honoring the university and its values. They care deeply about all of their students and set us up for success. Professors are always available and prioritize students, our wellbeing, and our education. I can't imagine being in any other program."

"NDNU gave me in the form of the art therapy program a career that in my earlier life I could have never imagined for myself and it is thanks to them that I have a job that makes an impact in the world. Don’t take that away from future students let them have an administration that cares about them and helps fund their futures"

"The Art Therapy Program is led by amazing professors who are supportive, knowledgeable, and well-respected in the field. The classes offer plenty of opportunity for self reflection, opportunity to create and learn useable skills, and community building with your peers. The campus is beautiful and an oasis in the busy-ness of the Bay Area."

"I really liked the fact that I could obtain a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy AND Art Therapy from the Art Therapy Psychology Department at NDNU. I feel that the faculty and curriculum prepared me well for my Practicum and for my career once I graduated. I am now licensed and continue to use art therapy in my work and I remain connected to alumni and faculty at the school. The small classes and programs allow students to take the time to process experiential interventions, get to know one another and remain connected in the community. My only suggestion would be to add a course involving the pros and cons of private practice and inviting professionals in the community in to discuss how they started and lessons learned."

"Norte Dame de Namur has a unique program integrating Art Therapy and Marriage and Family Therapy. Instructors are knowledgeable and art therapy interventions are woven into class instruction. I moved from an out of state to be in a program that was strong in research and intervention."

"The Master’s MFT and Art Therapy program might be the best in the nation. It is a hidden gem in the art therapy world of education and I’m so glad I found it. The class sizes are smaller for a more intimate learning experience. It is easy to discuss issues with the professors and the head of the department because they all welcome feedback. The staff in the art therapy department strive to make our experience as students as seamless as possible and prepare us for graduation. The business/financial aid office is that of any other university and has the same issues. Just the nature of that type of office since they do all deal with a lot of students."

"I experienced great Mentorship in the Art Therapy and Marriage and Family Graduate Program. What a wonderful community of future art therapists. Classmates are super supportive. Classes are small and specific. I learned so much about myself and other populations."
