"The program is great academically. It is a lot of work, but professors are very supportive, and the program leaves a lot of freedom for students to pursue whatever kind of research they like (qualitative, quantitative, multi-methods, interdisciplinary, ...). However, the program does not fare well in terms of social life. Princeton is a small town, graduate students are all very busy, and do not socialize much."

"Too many classes to take and TA, that are not necessary for research, limits productivity."

"Pros: Very good reputation provides unique opportunities. Small department means you know professors and they (sort of) know you on a first-name basis. Cons: The university recently (2012) significantly reduced the grad student housing, leaving grad students to rent in the expensive surrounding town which has few renting options. There are some unbelievable stories of people having no choice but to rent from terrible landlords in terrible houses. This *alone* is enough reason to go somewhere else."

"The faculty are supportive and available, and are usually experts in their field. The courses are also challenging and inspirational. Princeton is a charming European-like town with little cafes, bakeries and ice cream stores. The university itself was built in the Collegiate Gothic spirit of Cambridge and Oxford, so walking through campus feels like being back in the medieval ages. The only disadvantage is that housing and food are expensive in that area."

"Princeton is a great place for studying, having a nice environment and great opportunities. Especially highly I value the opportunity to access any faculty easily in order to discuss whatever I want. And the student community is very supporting and not too stressful and competitive."
