Student & Graduate Reviews (73)
Prism is the worst school ever don't waste your money they are liars, unorganized, they omit a lot of info until after you sign your paper work. They hire teachers with no teaching experience, you dont get your grades until sometime next term, so you don't know if you pass or fail so you will get pulled out of class. The administration never answers your questions and you won't know your clinical site untill the day before and it could be up to 50 miles away in another state so you better have a car and plenty of gas money and Thats if they have a site available at all like worst school ever go to your local community college its cheaper and more reputable
My company hired a new grad from Prism Career Institute based on the 'reviews' that a teacher and Career/Student services rep gave. The employee was poorly prepared for an entry position in nursing, quit with no notice, stole our equipment, and hangs up when we attempt to contact her to complete documentation, which we will be reporting to the State Board of Nursing. I wouldn't hire another grad from this school if THEY paid ME.
I guess I should say this is only my opinion and use the word alegedly so Prism don't sue me for this!! The school director was a lawyer but was told that he lost his law license!! And another old teacher lost his doctors license to! and they are both still there working!! I just passed the NCLEX today and that got me thinking of Prism. Prism was of minimal help and a huge waste of money. IF YOUR THINKING ABOUT GOING TO SCHOOL THERE READ THIS FIRST. I believe I'm a fair person and honest. The admission department will tell you how great the school is and thr school director and nursing director treat you so nice until they have you as a student thats when the real side is seen. I'm not going to name names b/c if your not a student there, it don't matter but I had only 2 really great teachers and of those only 1 is still working there because he cares about his students and is honest and real and knows alot. One other good teacher resignated. He told me he was tired of there was no organisation and even if your 0.1 point away and work extra hard, the director won't allow your teacher to pass you b/c they get more money if u repeat a class. 1 teacher they had was a psycho b/c he was in the marines or army and must of gone nuts. I found out he was fired on x-mas eve! Nice thing to do isn't it? But a older man who is STILL there teaching fondled student breasts when doing ekg's. This is public knowlege and is on the internet just google Dr R Prism Cherry Hill and read it your self! He even lost his doctor license and was charged with weapons charges to!! Enough said. You want to be around people like that in a unorganized over priced school?? Better to go to community college and get in to a pre-RN program. You will save money. LPN's don't do much anymore. On my clinical Prism had me passing out food trays each day and 90% junk stuff. Your best off studying by your self! I did NOT pass the NCLEX b/c of Prism. I past b/c I studied my ass off on my own. They did not help much finding me a job. Alls they did was look online like on monster and carreer builder. I could of done that!! So like I said, they lie to you, rip you off, have a SEX CRIMINAL teaching and there clinical sights waste your time IF they find you one. Go to school to be a RN instead
Btw, I never graduated! Long story short, I completed the course may 2010, when I was told to come back to take a class that I should have taken, but they failed to tell me that! I was supposed to be waiting to go on my internship. Next class did not start until August! by then I had a different job working late hours, which is when my classes were, at night, so it was a struggle for me to make the class. I finally finished the class, it took about a month. And I had to wait another month for internship. About 3 days before I was supposed to start my internship, I found out I was pregnant! I was working my regular job and doing the internship, which may I add was 35 mins from my house and an hour away from my job. I had to work overnights at my job and work mornings at the internship. Mind you, I told the person in charge of internship that I was pregnant. Just telling her just because. But later down the line, I was so tired I was falling asleep behind the wheel! Very dangerous! I told her could I work less hours at the internship or find somewhere closer because I can't be falling asleep while driving! Pregnancy makes you even more tired! She said no and we all have to make sacrifices to get what we want, are you Effin serious! I unfortunately lost the baby about a month later, which i proved to the "dean" or whomever because I stopped going to the internship because I was not about to kill myself! Once again, they did not care! I said I wanted to complete the internship so I could graduate. They basically gave me the run around and I never finished. Wasted $17,000 with these school loans. Go to a local college, MUCH CHEAPER and they seem to care more. They kick so many people out and don't care, because once the loan clears, they can do whatever they want! I'm trying to find a way to take these idiots to court!
I went to Prism Career Institute Egg Harbor Twp (AC, NJ) location. I was there in 2010 to get a certification in Medical Billing and Coding so I could leave the retail job I had at the time. Not only does the school not offer this course anymore but they did NOT help me find a job!!! I only went to the school because they said after graduation, which I missed because I was NEVER told about it, they would help you find a job. I completed the coursed, 3.8/9 GPA with only maybe 2 missed classes, compleded the internship and 4 years later, still do not have a job in the field. About a year or so after I graduated, I did receive a phone call from the school saying that they had an interview for me, at the place where I completed my internship. (The place where I completed my intership said they did not need my services after the internship was completed and hired someone else.) This was the only phone call or help I received in trying to find a job. (I have been able to find full-time employment elsewhere but not the field I studied and paid for and NOT with the help of the school). Don't waste your time with this school!!!!!!
I have recommended quite a few people to this school. I would say this school has helped me a lot. When I first started it was doing great. Graduation and pass rates were glorious. Now they are strictly about numbers and money and kicking people out. Honestly no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. There is no leeway for the students and they believe all the instructors even though they are one step up from ghetto. This school is entirely too much money for little effort they put in. They have you travel great distances for shitty places. Your instructors are allowed to treat you like ur worth nothing and the employees at the campus are also trashy. With incidents of clear cut lying. Providing evidence to them is not an option. They do not want to hear it or see it and just believe an instructor that is clearly lying. They throw people out like its no body's business. They believe that they should treat you like dirt and your family is worthless. SO please if you attend this school just be careful. They may pick on u but just keep your mouth shut or they will throw u to the curb. And yes I did graduate. But I am ashamed I ever went to this school. If I had to strictly pay the school back rather then the government. Hahahah I wouldn't they don't deserve anything and I cant wait till the complaints start being processed. Its going to be great watching that school crumble for their fraud and misleadings and mistreatment.
This school is a waste of money. Yes all of these technical schools are only out to make money. They are extremely nice when you want to sign up but once you put your name on that dotted line you are not just a no body. They help who they want to help when it comes to placing people in the right internship. If your then right type of person then they will send you to employers who are actually hiring and all others who may report them they just send you to people who get free work out of you but never have any intentions on hiring you no matter how good you are or how educated you are. If you don't fit the description, then no matter what your not getting hired. When they send you on jobs its jobs out the newspaper. When you are struggling with the class work they fail people and then tell them they need to retake the course and make them pay more money. These schools are SCAMS. When you go look for employment you are told by employers that you need one to two years experience. Well school is only for 9 months so where are you suppose to get experience.....you don't and you don't get a job. Then they want you to be bilingual.....yea Prism don't tell you that either. So don't waste your time or your money because if your not the right one with 2 years experience and speak bilingual you don't stand a chance but you will repay that student loan. CLOSE THESE SCHOOLS DOWN.......DISGRACE.......oh yea if the schools don't get a percentage of their grads jobs they will go out of business so that is why only the select few get the jobs. Right color, right teacher, and right language may get you a job if they are behind in their percentage otherwise you won't get one either. A bunch of bull.
Okay. So I decided to go to the campus in Cherry Hill because it was close and when I went to my meeting they sugar coated EVERYTHING. It seemed like the perfect fit for me. They explained the tutoring a great career developing expert, and an externship that can land you a job and they tell you it's impossible not to get a job after graduation. Okay here's my experience. The first day our teacher knew nothing what was going on. She gave us a half assed (excuse my language) job on teaching because of a "promotion" and this isn't "her job" She had us do nothing but sit around. No work. No homework. And the work that was finally given to us was just.. I can't even explain how easy. I went to talk to the director about how I felt about not receiving the proper education. He acted sweet over the phone saying this will be private. I told him that my teacher doesn't teach and half the time isn't in the class. She has the nerve to pull me into her office and give me a talk. If you'd just do your job this wouldn't happen. I love the friends that I made. But I am soooooo disappointed. I've only been in this school for a month and I already have bad vibes. They are completely unorganized. They don't know the curriculum, they make you go to school under unsafe conditions, and they make you make up holidays and snow days and don't care if you have a job. And I fear that I've let this go too far. I fear there's no way I'll get my $17,000 loan refunded and I've wasted time and money I don't have for an awful education. The school WILL NOT work with you. I feared of having a bad education and I was the bad guy. I can't believe any of this. This is supposed to be a professional environment and they do nothing professionally. I wish I knew this before I signed the paperwork. Point blank. I wasted my time. Don't waste yours on a school that doesn't care.
DK has taught me everything that I need to know, and I feel positive about knowing what I need to know to succeed. DK has really prepared me for the real world, using actual cases and giving us opportunities to do meaningful things.
He is a motivational teacher and takes his time to make sure I knew what I had to know. He was the best teacher I had at Prism.
I enrolled in Prism in January of 2012. My concentration is in paralegal. I obtained a lot of information and skills in this program. One of the best instructors I had during my term was Mr. DK. Mr. K was a phenomenal teacher. He always used actual situations to describe the way of the law. He was very clear and concise in his classrooms. Mr. K was easily understood and brought much knowledge to the classrooms.
His way of teaching is different from the rest because he took the time to explain, in detail, situations and cases and he also showed interest in the students. He was always available to help anyone who was in need. Mr. K is very smart, unique and personable. I do not feel I would know as much as I do now if Mr. K was not my teacher.
He wants the students to succeed and is willing to help students with anything, not just problems involving the law. I am more confident and knowledgeable because of Mr. K. It was a pleasure to have him as an instructor. I am forever grateful!
