  • Degree: Creative Writing
"The Master of Arts in Writing is a fantastic program for someone who wants to pursue creative writing by obtaining an MFA or PhD later on. In this program, I started my creative writing career, and in doing so, the faculty has guided and advised me on where I can take my career."

  • Degree: Journalism
"What makes this program so amazing is the people in it and the flexability to degree itself provides. Never before have I encountered a group of professors and administrators that were so dedicated to making sure each individual recieved the lessons and attention they needed to gain the most from the program. I recieved comprehensive aid whenever I asked, especially when dealing with technicalities like paperwork or schedualing. The help was freely offered and professors enjoyed when students accepted. Perhaps it is the communications field, but all my teachers were, in a word, approachable. There was no us-them mentality between teacher and student, but instead I was treated as a peer, a less educated peer, but a peer all the same. As for the degree, I chose it because it afforded me the ability to learn about all types of writing, creative or business, technical or poetic. I have the skills to work in journalism, public relations, in medical offices, in publishing, or in any sort of web conent generation. In today's job market, that I can market myself as a jack of all trades with a basis in nearly any writing set, is invaluable."

"The faculty is knowledgeable and available for help and guidance. Most of the classes are interesting and the workload is not unbearable for someone who is working full-time while going to school. The material is generally helpful but there is an overemphasis on theory sometimes, which is not too helpful for the "real world." Though the campus appears to be safe, it is usually desolate when I leave my evening classes, which is unnerving."
