"I really enjoyed the social work program at Rutgers. It gave me a lot of the tools I needed in helping me with my career path. I participated in the three year blended program and enjoyed every minute of it, even the courses that were researched based had a lot of information to give me that I could use in my work now. I also like that the in-person courses were interactive and we did a lot of role playing to practice our therapeutic skills. I was also placed in great internships where I got jobs at each time. So I definitely recommend getting your social work degree here, especially if you want to work with adolescents."

"I loved Rutgers. The professors and course content was excellent. The actual campus in New Brunswick is beautiful and overall it was an amazing university to attend for my Masters."

"College is useful when you know what you want to major in. If you are undecided, it is best to take some county college classes, do internships and gain experience. The college expense are unavoidable, but worth it when you have a clear picture of your future."

"Rutgers' MSW program distinguishes itself not just by the quality of the professors (all of whom are professionals in the field as well as instructors), but by the connection to the real world through field internships. When I receive my degree, I will already be experienced in the field. Further, the administrative staff holds itself to a high standard of rigorously supporting the students."

"The Rutgers' School of Social Work is a great school. The school ranks amongst the highest school of social work and has lots of variety of programs and flexibility (for MSW student). You could choose 1) an online/ hybrid/ or on-campus programs; 2) clinical or management and policy concentration 3) three certificate program (Aging and Health, Addiction Counselor Training, and violence against women) 4) Several areas of emphasis of practice . The school of social work also has strong faculty members who have decades of experience of practice and research, both domestically and internationally. Rutgers prides itself as one of the most diverse campus in the US. In addition, Rutgers University is among the 62 members of the AAU (Association of American Universities), the leading research universities in North America."

"I thought they were only interested in a check. Didn't learn anything. I learned much more while obtaining my bachelors degree"

"In my first year the most life changing course for me was diversity and oppression and the professor who taught the course I believe added to the quality of the course. It gave me answers to questions I had been wrestling with before I started my study. I would highly recommend this course to anyone even if they do not intend to pursue social work. The course equips us with enough information to give us insight about the way things are right now and definitely in light of the recent violence that have gripped the United States. It sheds light on race/ethnicity and puts these tense topic in perspectives. In other words it goes to the root causes instead of sugar coating the issues."

"The graduate program consist of very knowledgeable, diverse, and experienced staff. However, the program itself doesn't help students that are working full-time or have family obligations."

"The Rutgers School of Social Work is a competitive program which challenges young and experienced professionals. I experienced Rutgers first-hand while earning my bachelor of arts in psychology which prepared me to become a counselor at one of the nation's top residential treatment facilities. With so much diversity among professor and student interests, Rutgers makes you search within to find what truly matters to you and then pushes you to make a difference whether it be through empirical research or directly through practice. When considering some of the downfalls, the transportation can be a hassle as well as the dispersal of resources (i.e. advisors, professors, libraries, and classes) across several campuses in New Brunswick and Piscataway. Overall, this program is worth the challenge and it constantly keeps one on their toes, reaching to succeed."

"Rutgers offers one of the most comprehensive Social Work programs in the country. We are one of the largest, which allows us to attract a diverse range of professors with interesting backgrounds, histories, and professional experiences they can bring to the classroom. The School of Social Work feels like a real community. The only down side is that Rutgers is a very large university and it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle while you're there."

"I needed a program that was flexible because I move every few years as a military spouse. Graduate school is important to me and finding a school that fit with my lifestyle and had my major was difficult. Rutgers fulfilled all of my requirements for what I was looking for in a graduate school: prestige, recognize-ability, reputation, program offerings, proper accreditation, and flexible programs. The classes have been fun and interesting, and I am already learning so much about my chosen career."

"Rutgers is a great University with a great academic program. However, I feel the administration needs to do a better job to attend to the needs of students specifically better customer service and answering the phones."

"Thus far, Rutgers University has been extremely time efficient in all of their responses and efforts to reach out to students in the community. The Rutgers community is very diverse, and although they have an extremely high population of students enrolled both full and part-time, they offer a more than satisfactory amount of time and dedication to the needs of each individual student."

"Rutgers University has broadened my academic and personal horizons immensely. At school, I am surrounded by those that have a similar interest in helping others. I also have the support and knowledge of my experienced professors to guide me throughout my graduate school career. Obtaining my master's puts my practical skills and education to the test. It is my hope that with the help of this scholarship, I can continue to work hard so that I can help those in need and better our world. I am very grateful for this opportunity and for my opportunity to attend graduate school."

"The graduate program in social work will prepare me for a shift in career from teacher to school social worker. Working in an inner city school district demands that I am prepared to deal with and assist students at a deeper level. I am up for the challenge. Meeting the needs of students in crisis is a necessity considering the population of students I am currently working with. The only down side to the graduate program is that it is costly. Being a mother of four does not allow me the affordability of what a Masters Degree will actually cost. In the next two years, my oldest child will enter college - yet another expense, but I feel that I am setting the example for her by taking this initiative. I am prayerful that she will be in a position to receive scholarships and grants to assist with her education as well. In the meantime, I appreciate any assistance available to me."

"The ranking of the MSW program and the location were definitely pros in my decision process. The price was also attractive. I do not have any particular cons to say about Rutgers MSW program."

"The pro for the social work graduate program is that you learn a lot of hands on materials that will be beneficial when you enter into your career. Also, the professors are proficient in their specialized fields and know how to teach the students the materials. In contrast, the con for the social work graduate program is that the books are very expensive and you need the books for each of your classes. In addition, it is expensive to live on campus, but for some students that live far away, that is their only option."

"Though graduate school was a full time course load, there wasn't time for for anything extra to do. Internship took up the majority of the week and if you are a parent well juggling everything was difficult and hard due to the long internship hours plus process recordings."
