"The MD program at SLU is fast paced and intense, but manageable. The faculty and staff are very friendly and the deans are always willing to meet with you and are incredibly supportive of the students. The medical school is also unique in that the first two years of the program are true pass/fail, which fosters a collaborative atmosphere among the students and relieves some of the stress of medical school without compromising the quality of the education."

"I love the physical therapy program at SLU. The faculty is absolutely amazing and they truly are working to help us become the best people and physical therapists that we can be. The workload is challenging but each semester I look back in amazement of how much I have learned. I would not trade this grad school experience with any other. The only con I would say is the lack of scholarship opportunities given by SLU to their graduate students."

"The department is small enough that you interact with everyone, and have the chance to work with many different groups. The professors are accessible, and actively want their students to succeed. Many of the students are from the Midwest, but there is also a decent amount who are from elsewhere in the country. There is also a strong international representation."

"It's a quality education with a friendly and accessible faculty. The only downside is the cost, but that comes with any higher education degree."

  • Degree: International Business
"I enjoyed my time at SLU tremendously. Not only did I learn volumes, but I built relationships that I still have--both in terms of my classmates and my professors. I studied international business and took classes in your traditional business sphere (accounting, marketing, finance, management), and then also was able to take classes focused on culture and individual business relationships, and then on current events and trade relationships. I put a high value on the education I received at SLU."

"From the outside, one may be aware of the competitiveness, quality, and prestige of an education from SLU. But what people don't always see, is what goes on inside. The public health faculty have an open-door policy and are accessible and approachable. Not to mention, the award-winning, world-renowned faculty. SLU is surrounded by vibrant social life like the Central West End. While I feel safe on campus, some parking and commute areas become higher risk at night."

"The network (I was told) was the best in the area and can/will succeed in helping to gain employment in the metro area. The biggest drawback is tuition and tuition assistance. I am a full time student with a husband and son. I am not a young adult still living with my parents- I have a family to help support! There are virtually no options for those of us who have other bills to pay and cannot live off of daddy'd dime."

"I love my classes in the Master's of Social Work Program at St. Louis University! They are very applicable to the social work profession and challenge me to think and act in new and different ways. The faculty is caring and understanding as well as being extremely knowledgeable about their subjects. However, located in the middle of St. Louis makes parking a little difficult, and the surrounding area a little less than safe."

"The nutrition graduate program at SLU is one of the best programs around. The faculty are knowledgable, supportive and very involved in the students' academic work. The program fully prepared me for the "real world," and the courses were challenging in a great way. A variety of courses are provided for electives, so students can choose specialty areas to study. Overall, GREAT PROGRAM! Highly recommended. The only con is safety in St. Louis. Simply be aware of your surroundings and make good choices!"

"The move from the main campus to downtown has re-energized the entire SLU Law operation. With new facilities and a revitalized focus, SLU Law should become a force to be reckoned with in the mid-western legal community."

"I have had a very incredible experience in the Occupational Therapy program at St. Louis University. I recently started the graduate program, and I am constantly being challenged by my professors to think in an inventive and creative way. I am also learning so much about the profession and feel very competent moving forward through grad school that I have the foundations I need to be very successful here!"

"I feel that the graduate program in nutrition and dietetics at SLU is overall an excellent one. I am a dietetic intern with SLU and I think the workload goes along with the high rating of the students who graduate from the internship. There is a lot of work and it will be difficult but I think SLU provides the proper resources for help. The nutrition and dietetics faculty are available for assistance and will readily work with you on any problems you may have. They also try to help students network and work on projects that will help with getting jobs in the future. There isn't much diversity at all but I think this has more to do with the nature of the field of study than the university. Due to the amount of work you have, the amount of time spent socializing will drastically decrease. The cost of living also has more to do with the city of St. Louis than the university. On the other hand, it would be nice if they offered graduate housing. Overall, I think SLU's dietetic internship and master's program is worth pursuing."

"The DPT program at SLU is very reasonable. Our teachers are always available and very welcoming to our questions and concerns. The teachers also collaborate together in order to make a schedule for the semester that does not overload one week to particularly bad (besides the inevitable finals and midterms weeks). The course load is very overwhelming, however I went into this accelerated graduate program knowing this. Because of this, I do not have much of a social life outside of my physical therapy classmates. My classmates make the slight social life that I do have enjoyable between the study breaks and the "letting go" after an exam we spent weeks preparing for. My classmates are now considered my best friends and are almost looked at like brothers and sisters and we are there to help each other make it through the DPT program--there is not a competitive attitude within this program. Overall, SLU's DPT program is one with many pro's."
