"I feel that the pros of my graduate program are that I am finally able to learn about the particulars of my career path. For years I have dabbled in records and database organization, but now I am actually applying my skills better. The only con I can think of is the tuition."

"The social life and opportunities for networking are good. Public transportation is free for students, but not always the most dependable. A very dependable shuttle is available to reach the public health campus. The internship program is a wonderful, well-run resource. All students are matched with internships to fulfill their requirement for graduation. There is great diversity of the student body, in terms of educational background and ability, national origins, professional experience, and so on."

"The University at Albany's MPH program feels like a small campus because, well, it is! You get to know the other people in your program and it is relatively easy to make friends if you are new to the area since you share several of the same classes with people. The classes are easy to go to with a work schedule because there are lots of night and/or online classes. Albany is a nice area with a decent number of restaurants and local parks so it is a nice place to spend the two years of graduate school! The program itself offers a concrete background in all aspects of public health while offering a variety of electives in your concentration to keep you interested in your classes. It is a good school, especially because of the economic value of the program."

"The program is competitive and has rigorous coursework but access to faculty is limited. The faculty are very busy advising multiple graduate students and it can become cumbersome to get an appointment in."

"Situated in the center of New York's capital region, the school offers a unique opportunity for the students to deepen not only academic knowledge, but also practical knowledge about the society and government at large. The programs are small enough to provide the students individual attention we deserve, but large enough to actually have some weight out in the "real world" - whether that be in public or private sector...or...the academia. Two draw backs to all of the social science programs (probably like most other schools with medium or small size programs) is the funding availability and the lack of faculty specialization. In short, money is tight and we lack, in numerous areas, faculty members that specialize in those fields."

"Pros: -Not very hard -Flexibility of schedule Cons: -No recruiting -No validity to degree concentration areas -Lack of oversight on faculty activities -Most professors are not specialists in their field nor do they have any presentation skills."

  • Degree: Anthropology
"University at Albany graduate programs are diverse and generally well-developed. The faculty in the Anthropology department are extremely accessible and involved in student development. The campus food situation is a bit less than perfect, but it is still quite good. The surrounding city is somewhat vibrant, especially when students are around."
