"The education I received at Texas Southern was one of the best experiences in my life. I started my academic career at another university where black people were a very small part of campus life. I came from a very racially balanced high school environment. When I transferred it was a culture shock because I had never been around so many black people before. The best part is I never got to see so many intelligent people of color in one place. From my fellow students to the Ivy League instructors, Texas Southern University is not just an HBCU but a true place of academic achievement. If you are standing from the outside you will never know the greatness of the inside of this awesome university. Consider, how many schools have a law school, pharmacy school, engineering, and one of the best aerospace engineering programs in Texas. People may say Texas Southern is easy to get into, but it is not easy to get out of because you are expected to become battle-tested academically. The school produces one-third of the black pharmacists in the United States. In the past five years, the Law School has been #1 in Texas for producing African-American attorneys and #3 in Texas for producing Latino attorneys. Texas Southern University did not just prepare me academically, it prepared me for life. Proud alumnus class of Spring 1992."

"Don’t take any Engineer degree from Texas southern university. You will not get any job. Engineering company will not take you because you are from this college and general store will not take as you have engineering degree. You will spoil your life with all financial burden. No company will take you with their degree. You can’t do master degree from good college you have good GPA and good GRE score. This college is a crap."

"Texas Southern University affords a great HBCU experience in a rich and diverse metropolitan city. The university has access to the world's largest medical center. Students should try to connect to alumni mentors in community and connect to unique career experiences."

"Attending Texas Southern was the best decision I have ever made, Moving from Phoenix, Arizona to a Historically Black College in Houston, Texas was an eye opening experience. Many people believe that attending an HBCU means that you will have limited interactions with diverse people, but this could not be farther from the case. But this cannot be farther from the truth. I consistently interacted with all kinds of people from the African diaspora. I have played on the volleyball team with people from southern California, and been roommates with someone from rural Ohio. Some of my peers were conservatives and others were liberals. Also, being that TSU is relatively small, my professors and counselors were able to give me personalized attention. I was able to attend programs across the country thanks to my counselors and received raving letters of recommendation from my professors because we spent so much one on one time together. I was able to attend several programs specially created for HBCU students. One program was located in California, and I got to travel there for free. Friends of mine were active with the Thurgood Marshall College fund, another program dedicated to the advancement of HBCU students. The business school has a really extensive network of connections to the business community in Houston. If you are interested in oil and gas, or banking this is the right business school for you. If I had to decided which university to attend again, I would definitely select Texas Southern University, where there is excellence in achievement."

"Coming from Nigeria and not having lived outside of my home country before, it was a whole new experience for me. But the School of Communication, Texas Southern University, helped me overcome whatever fears I had. The instructors were excellent and most of them took particular interest in me and my progress and this helped me so much. The student financial services helped me with funds and when they didn't have any for International Students, they helped me source for it and I was able to complete my studies in flying colours. I am a proud alumnus of Texas Southern University and I would encourage anyone to go there because they will provide you an excellent platform to excel and succeed."

"As a proud, alumni of Texas Southern University's College of Arts and Science, I received the exceptional educational opportunities. I learned techniques and information that assisted me in and out of the laboratory environment. I was able to participate in research activities during the school year and also in the summer at universities across the United States because of the preparation that I received at Texas Southern University."

"Attending Texas Southern University was a great experience for me for several reason. Coming from the other side of the states, California to be exact I was unaware of the great hospitality in the south. The professors are all willing to go above and beyond to help you achieve your academic and career goals. The campus is filled with culture and diversity. It is in a historical neighborhood; Third Ward. The school is also a historical HBCU! My favorite places on campus was the Hannah Hall building because of all the beautiful art work done by previous students. Texas Southern is a great school for anyone to attend! As ever proud Alumni from TSU says, "I'm so glad that I chose TSU... TSU TSU we love you!""

"My college experience was great because things were given to me with a more realistic perspective the teachers were more then just professionals. The school was welcoming to everyone so it gave a great sense of diversity and a opportunity to everyone to learn and get better in life. It was a change in life for me and such an encouragement to continue to improve myself and to obtain more knowledge. Understand you can never stop learning it taught me a fool is a person that does not want to such for answer, meaning never get complacent."

"Great Education. Texas Southern University is family. The Professors, Administrators really care, they continue to provide support in my development and growth. I am forever grateful to my Alma mater. Texas Southern University is like no other, where else can you get the one on one education and support. Sure, anyone who was in my shoes would have had their choice of any University in Texas, but Texas Southern University is the best."

"Texas Southern University is one of the few historically Black Institutions with a law school which is the most diverse law school in the nation might I add. As an HBCU this university has outstanding program in areas of science, engineering, pharmacy, and public administration along with a host of other programs which guarantee a career upon graduation. TSU also is uniquely placed in the heart of a historic community which is attached to the university in every aspect. TSU is a HBCU however the diversity is culturally high due to the international recruiting efforts on campus. Texas Southern University faculty had the public relations skills to understand and build relationships with their students. The professors were very involved with students who showed the determination and willingness to complete their degree with little distractions. I was active in the marching band as a majorette and the band director was active in his band members education as this was the focus and purpose for attending."

"Texas Southern University is a good school. The pharmacy program is great. The pharmacology professors are great and extremely helpful! The only thing is that the administrators are hard to get a hold of. They rarely reply emails or never at all! The same goes for the rest of the school. The financial aid is the worst. They never call or notify you if something is wrong with your financial aid. When you ask them why they didn't notify you, their reply is that it's your responsibility to find out. Or you will ask them a question concerning your fafsa and one person will say something but when you come back and ask the same question to another person, they will give you a different answer. They never seem to be in synch. They never know who to send you to to solve your problem. They will send you to someone across campus, then when you get there that person will say "oh no, go to so and so" and then you go to the next person across campus and that person will send you to the first place you start off from. It is absolutely ridiculous."

"I attended Texas Southern University, a small Historical Black University (HBU) in Houston, TX. The students to professor ratio was fair. The financial department was good and helpful. The professors are stellar and the quality of education can be put up against any top colleges in the Houston area such as University of Houston, or Rice University. Texas Southern has one of the best law school and pharmacy school in the U.S. I'm extremely proud of my degree and the university I chose to obtained it."

"Getting my Master Public Administration from Texas Southern University prepared me to become a strong, and effective leader and manager. I developed quantitative and professional skills that will forever shape my future. The professors offered a wealth of knowledge and opportunities to grow as an individual and enhance your knowledge. Although it is a HBCU, students of all cultures could benefit from this extraordinary program."

"Texas Southern University was a perfect school for someone undecided with exactly I wanted to be in life, but knew I wanted to start college right out of High School. My professors in my Fine Arts degree have remained life long friends well beyond completing my Bachelor's degree. The fellow classmates I have worked with throughout college have also remained on this journey of life with me. I can say that choosing Texas Southern University is choosing friendships and family. People dedicated in ensuring that you succeed. I cannot tell you how it was wonderful to have a Dean correct me through criticism and sit me out from activities when I was a hard head freshman. Even now I am so happy to have that discipline follow me in my graduate career."

"I have to write this review being as honest as possible because a lot of time certain Universities are looked down upon. I have to say while attending Texas Southern University I felt a since of pride to actually be able to say I am a part of the alumni at this University. The drive and determination that the teachers present give you that motivation to continue on. That is why I have come to the decision to continue my education and apply for my Masters at Texas Southern University"

"The professors and staff have been very helpful in answering all my questions. The first week of orientation I was given information on financing, student services, library services, online services, communication resources and everything I could possibly need to know to make my experience the best. The professors do not make the material easy, by any means, but it challenges you to do your best. They want you to take charge of your own education and take your career seriously. They value knowledge and feedback from their students. The only complaint I could possibly give is it is hard to navigate the campus, but everyone is helpful in showing me where I need to go when I'm lost."

"Texas Southern University has the capacity to become a great school. The administration just needs to be revamped. The professors are amazing. I was able to use rate my professor for some courses and that was a great opportunity to excel in all my classes."
