"Brand new program so it's still developing a network but otherwise really smoothly incorporated into interdisciplinary courses."

"The MSW program is excellent and affordable. The faculty and staff are professional and very supportive of students. I felt that they were very interested in helping each student succeed in the program. I think the students of this program are better prepared for work than other programs. Almost all the students passed the State Licensing Exam the first time. I am very satisfied with the education I received from this program and it helped my career advance more than I ever imagined."

"Great location, and amazing faculty to work with. You get the faculties and benefits of a large school, with the friendly environment and personal attention of a small town university."

"The con of the department is no fault of its own, but it being new prevents the program and its graduates as being of good enough value for PhD programs. The pro of the program is that teachers are eager to help progress the careers of masters candidates. This means that they are typically available to talk and edit papers for publication or submission to conferences."

"Pros - the program is designed with an emphasis on research which is not the case for a lot of other graduate programs in the surrounding area unless one is working on their doctorate. The professors are amazing. Lots of support. Cons- It can be pretty overwhelming. We have two years to design an experiment and that's not a lot of time."

"Texas State's MBA program is awesome! The advisors an professors are so open, accessible, and helpful! The classes are the perfect ratio of students per professor. The campus is beautiful. With campus organizations for any and everyone, social life is amazing. This is an overall great school."

"The pros of my graduate program is the faculty. They provide us with excellent and valuable education and expect high standards from us the students. The cons about the graduate program would be the inability to have a social life outside of academic due to the intensity this program carries."

  • Degree: English
"The graduate programs in English are flexible, offering both day and evening classes for those with full-time jobs, and degrees are offered in Literature, Rhetoric, and Creative Writing. The faculty is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, dedicated, accessible, and supportive. Work loads are manageable yet challenging, and expectations are high for all students and their work. Some drawbacks include that summer courses tend to be more limited, but that is relatively usual no matter what campus one attends. The major drawback for me is that there is not, as yet, a PhD program established. I would love to continue my studies in a doctorate program with the professors at Texas State."

The level of care that they provide for students on an individual level concerning their education is remarkable and admirable. A collaborative learning environment that helps individuals become more knowledgeable and prepared for serious writing and discussion."

"Although I don't feel like Sociology gets enough credit in general, our program and faculty are above average. Every one of my professors are well educated and passionate about their fields, and I know they are always there to help me succeed in any way they can."

"For the most part, the professors have been kind, intelligent, understanding, and reliable. As I commute about fifty miles to and from campus, the networking, transportation, and overall social scene per campus is not easily exploited. The range of classes offered, dependent upon the semester, is broad and the each class I have taken has been well taught."

"The history graduate program at Texas State offers its masters students a diverse range of classes with professors who are student-oriented and passionate about teaching. They consistently make themselves available to discuss and assist with matters of research, honing interests, and the best choices for your academic experience and career. The organization of the program can often leave something to be desired as it seems students are left to feel their own way through the process of graduate school, but the professors and the quality of instruction make this a good choice for a history masters student. Not to mention, TX state is in one of the most beautiful parts of Texas!"

"Love Texas State as a whole! The physical therapy program is ranked in the top 100 schools! Also, the school is very supportive in helping students succeed. In my case as an undergraduate with two small children they acted as a huge support system and continue to do so through graduate school. The San Marcos river runs right through campus for those social butterflies!!"
