"The New School for Public Engagement is one of the best places for theory based courses. It presents its students with a number of classes, support and faculty that help you view film and cinema in different perspectives. There is a wide spectrum of people from different walks of life and experiences. However I do feel that graduate students should have more events and mixers concerning job opportunities and internships. There needs to be a more unified front because loans need to be paid and money should not be the reason why people refuse to go back to a higher level of education. This is a golden opportunity to turn things around and make life better. I know that I will benefit greatly from this program, faculty, peers and other staff."

"The New School is a smart, forward-thinking university that promotes innovative ideas and discussions among its students. The faculty support a general ideal that good education can lead to social change. The class sizes are fairly tight and there is a personal atmosphere with your professors."

"The MFA writing program at The New School offers an amazing reading series and is staffed by professors who are really living their dreams as writers in New York City. The selection of students is of the highest quality and we push each other creatively both in and out of class. This is definitely a program driven by the love of craft, and it's structured to challenge all of us to find which of the tools offered will help us find our place in the literary world. Because the staff is so involved in this world, however, it's not always easy to get in touch with them outside of class. I commute in and out of the city for work and school, so finding the extra time and money to take advantage of any opportunity to meet with faculty members, or even to take advantage of other New School educational or recreational programs, has proven difficult during my first semester. I want to be able to immerse myself in this program as much as possible--I want to truly be a part of this community."

"The Transdisciplinary Design MFA Program at Parsons effectively leverages surrounding organizations and communities to provide a diverse and practical curriculum for students. Although the program is very innovative, this makes the job security preceding graduation unknown. However, what the program offers is unlike any other design program. The skill-set acquired through the program will prepare students for a variety of career domains."

"Excellent teachers, facilities lacking and no social core but the education and being in NYC make up for some of that."

"The Graduate Program gives you enough time to pursue other things related to your field outside of school (such as jobs or internships), but gives you enough work to make you feel like you're learning something. It's a great balance of independent study under the watchful eyes of faculty that gives you enough wiggle room to grow but are ready to help you out the moment you need it."
