"I'm pleased I chose to attend UTK. Out-of-state tuition is expensive, but there are numerous opportunities for funding within the department and with other offices on campus. The faculty are highly respected in their areas and attentive to grad student needs. They are eager to allow us to take part in research projects to further our growth and success following graduation. I love living in Knoxville. The area is beautiful, and it's highly affordable compared to other places (especially college towns) I have lived."

"Not much of a social life outside of the program, the University does not foster connections between the psychology department and other graduate programs. The amount of clinical hours is good and competitive (intakes, assessments, externship) but the supervision is heavily psychodynamic, which is good to get exposure but it can be a struggle to find CBT supervisors. The value of the classes is not great, you don't have to work very hard for an A. However, the match rate is very high, so people are able to use their degrees."

"My graduate program is actually at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tn, which was not an available option. I am studying a doctoral degree in nursing, and feel that my university is at the top of the academic and professional ladder in this field. My faculty are regarded quite highly, and are at the forefront of change in the healthcare industry, something that is of importance to those of us planning our careers in this this industry. The program is difficult, but I feel it should be, as it is a doctoral degree. Memphis offers many exciting experiences, although some may be distracting to studies! Overall I feel that this university is a top notch facility, focused on providing students with the academic and practical knowledge necessary to not only be prepared for our futures, but to be a leader in our field."

"Pros: Great program that challenges its grad students and utlimately helps them grow into future professors and research scholars. Most students are competing with among the best in the field and many are winning. There are a endless amount of students with awards and recognition in publications. The faculty are well-known and provide a great amount assistance with projects and networking opportunities. We also benefit from an interdisciplinary program with many opportunities to collaborate with many scholars from similar fields of interest. Cons: There is more work to be done to increase the amount of diversity within the program. Prospective students need to have more assistance with funding for campus visits."

"I study in the EEB department, and the education that I am receiving is incredible. I would never have done an undergrad here, but the graduate school is serious, focused, and well-connected. While Knoxville may have its drawbacks (not bike friendly, generally lawless), it is a very hospitable town with a burgeoning supply of things to do."
