"UTMB is a great medical school to attend in Texas. The classes are set up for the first two years in a way that allows for a lot of study time on your own instead of dependent on the classroom setting. We also have a dedicated block to studying for the Step 1 exam after the second year."

"I am pursuing a M.D. at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. This program is highly competitive among other Texas medical schools, while having a laid back vibe and friendly support! Though some may thing Galveston is not the best place, the island provides cheap living and the medical school provides a helpful support network."

"There are many pros of the program at The University of Texas Medical Branch. These include location, faculty, and the ease of research availability. I love living on Galveston island. I enjoy fishing and swimming in the ocean. The faculty are very helpful and are open to hear the student's ideas and opinions. There are many research opportunities available at UTMB. If a student is interested in a certain area of research, they can definitely find it at UTMB. However, there are a couple of cons. These are IT and the location of the school on the island. I have had several problems with the school's internet and webmail systems and I haven't received much help. The school seems to be located on a bad side of town and there are areas around the school that have a high amount of criminal activity. Overall, I love UTMB!"

"The MD program is very good at teaching all the pertinent information while incorporating PBL, Labs, and activities to increase learning by offering tutoring. The island is small, but Houston is only 45 minutes away. I feel that my program is fully preparing me for my career."

"My graduate program is very time consuming and includes in depth learning. The faculty is all supportive of students, help in any way they can, and are extremely knowledgeable in the subject matter. Most doctoral programs are going to be challenging, DPT school is no different. Students in this program must sacrifice the majority of their free time and acknowledge the fact that they are more likely than not going to accumulate large amounts of debt simultaneously. The curriculum is organized in a sequential manner that compliment other classes taken each semester. Any new technology the school can use effectively to help students learn seems to be taken into consideration for the budget, as everything is very up to date. The location of my school is not the safest location in Texas, but it is convenient to be a short distance to Houston."

"UTMB School of Medicine in great. There is extreme diversity in both faculty and staff. It is very family-oriented, and there are endless resources to help students with whatever they need. It is also in a beach town, so students can relax by the beach to de-stress from coursework. On the other hand, with Galveston being a beach town, the tourists are ALWAYS around. This means that traffic is usually horrible on weekends and all throughout summer so getting around the island can be annoying. The only other con about UTMB is the large class sizes. There are 230+ students in each class. On the other hand, lectures are recorded, which eases the large amount of people in the lecture hall at a given time."
