If you want an adventure, this school is without peer. Founded on the shores of the Long Island Sound, this Academy is one of our Nation's five Service Academies. This is the only Federally funded Academy in which civilian employment post-graduation is allowed and encouraged! More than 95% of trade is transported by sea and it takes dedicated and intelligent professionals to get the job done. The School's focus is to forge the best trained Marine Engineers and Marine Transportation/Logistics majors to man our countries merchant fleet and provide quality oversight and management to cargo vital to our national security. The structure is military oriented and is similar to the Naval Academy. Major differences include smaller campus, 300 days attached to Merchant or Merchant Auxiliary vessels, Coast Guard Unlimited Tonnage license, a commission into ANY of the armed forces as an O-1 OR Civilian employment (must be a IR Reservist with the Merchant Marine Reserve for 6 years following graduation if you do not go active duty). A graduate from this school develops leaders who learn unique skills, travel the world, and develop extreme confidence in tough situations. This Academy has one of the highest employment rates and highest starting salaries in the country. Even if you commission into the armed services, the degree and Coast Guard License will be your financial safety net. As you follow you dreams you will always have the confidence in knowing that there is excellent job waiting for you. If you are looking into Service Academies, I EMPLORE you to please review USMMA and the opportunities it can provide. If you have any questions, please contact me at
