"The graduate program in neuroscience is very unorganized. It is up to you to get what you need out of it. The classes are taught by several professors who all specialize in the area of the class they are responsible for. Communication is weak within the department and there is a lot of drama. The good things are you have incredible opportunities if you seek them out. The professors are very knowledgeable and the technology is great. The medical campus (South) is lacking in the coffee shop and cafe department with only one cafe that closes around 4pm. Their library is not open late on South campus so it makes it difficult to stay there and study with closed buildings and no coffee. UB also does not participate in a reduced student fee for the METRO bus so I spend $5 a day to get to South campus and back from my apartment. They have shuttle buses that run between South and North campus which are always way overcrowded and you are often left standing for 20m as the driver carelessly tosses you around. This transportation is provided by the over $100 fee in tuition but does not include city transport. Overall the school is decent but my own personal experience is not that great especially for what I am paying. I do not believe I am getting what I am paying for."

"Great cohesive group, with faculty and staff that are truly invested in helping you succeed. Growing in prestige and value as a school and MBA program. Could possibly work to bring in more outside companies for projects and career expos."

"UB has a rigorous graduate program. The pros of this program are it has a good diversity and good Faculty. The selling point of UB shall surely be LeaderCORE program which helps in becoming a good leader. The major drawback which UB has is the geographic location. And the avg pre-MBA work experience is very low due to which the post MBA avg salary package is low as well. However, in terms of ROI, UB surely stands in the top pool."

"UB School of Management has a very diverse body of students with different backgrounds and overall experience. The school is not only affordable but also offers quality education. An MBA program depends on the student on how immersed he/she is to the program. There are so many things that school has to offer and how effectively we can benefit from the availed resources. The faculty with the years of teaching experience add value to the program. The entire environment is so consuming that I believe that this will be the best two years to build myself as a working professional. There are certain areas that the school could still work on. We can see that the rankings are improving, and the effort of the School of Management team has been tremendous to further distinguish UB from other schools."

"Pros are: 1. It's a very intensive program. The course curriculum is very challenging 2. Faculties are very friendly and are always willing to help out students 3. Graduate Program Office is extremely supportive Cons: 1. The winter weather is very harsh 2. Scholarship opportunities for international students is close to zero 3. Career opportunity for international students is also very rare. University doesn't have that influence in the job market for international students."

"UB Graduate School of Social Work was a great experience. I transferred my second year not because I did not like the program but because I wanted to be in NYC. However, the program itself is great. The teachers are great for the most part. My field placement was AMAZING! The field education department could do a better job teaching the foundation year students what needs to be done, like time sheets and supervision logs. Other than that it was a great school and affordable."

  • Degree: Counseling
"UB is a great place to earn a degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. It is overall a rewarding experience. The coursework for this degree is challenging. Some of the courses require a lot assignments, participation and also that we get involved within our own communities (even though the degree is completed online). Your classmates and instructors make up for any challenges you may face. The classes are small, and you encounter your professors and classmates in numerous classes. So you really get to know everyone. The coursework focuses on developing counseling skills, understanding theories, client placement, disabilities, tests, assessment devices, and students also experience a practicum and internship. This degree prepares you to work in the real world, and offers many great benefits to the students. By completion of the degree students are prepared for a certification test, and there are so many jobs available in this field. The professors, fellow students, and dedication to helping people with disabilities make earning this degree a valuable experience and investment for my future."

"The University at Buffalo is a wonderful school as long as you take advantage of all the opportunities that are offered. Being a large research institution, there are countless internships and undergraduate research positions available. The education received relies entirely on the effort put in. In other words, going through the motions will result in a degree from a state university, but hard work and dedication result in degrees with a thesis, undergraduate research experience, competitive fellowships etc."

"The Graduate program at SUNY Buffalo has been rewarding to me. SUNY Buffalo has one of the best geography programs in the US. The faculty is of a great caliber and they do get involved with the students. The technology available for use is great and is easily accessible. I would choose SUNY Buffalo for geography again."

"The thing I like most about Buffalo are the people. The group of students here are friendly and extremely helpful. It is like being a part of one big family. Although the workload is sometimes unbearable, we work together to make sure we all get through it. Buffalo also emphasizes early patient interactions, which I believe is critical to a medical school education. They only con to this school is the winter weather, but as a native New Yorker it is something that I am used to. For people used to mild winters it is quite a drastic change."

"The faculty members are very supportive. It is great to make friends within class since everyone is friendly. The surrounding area does not have much places to visit compared to actual city. The transportation is not very reliable. However, they do have shuttle that drop you off at your house at certain hours."
