"UC Davis is a great institution to attend for your undergraduate degree. Staff is very helpful with guidance and advice and there are many tools on campus at your disposal. You can get your degree in four years or less due to less impacted classes and quarter system."

"I highly encourage those who don't know what they want to attend a community college prior to a 4-year. It allows you to figure out what you want without a lot of debt. I love my degree. I am good at the subject and it will help me later on in my health profession. I studied enzymatic processes and biochemical pathway which will help when I study metabolic diseases in the future."

"As a student coming from a large city, adjusting to the town of Davis was difficult at first. Large cities offer this bustling lifestyle that provides a constant range of activities, as well as this sense of anonymity/privacy when doing them. However, after finding a good group of friends, the town will eventually morph into your second home. I truly miss being a part of the Davis community now. Also, unlike other small town colleges, UC Davis is an hour outside San Francisco, and only 30 minutes away from Sacramento. Both of these cities will give any big-city dweller the fix they need. As far as academics, UC Davis has many resources to ensure the success of their students. From free tutoring, to professor's office hours, to CAPS (counseling services), to the ARC (gym free to students) you are guaranteed to find an outlet that will help you in any aspect you may be struggling with. That being said, it is up to you as an individual to ensure you are utilizing the resources. Since UC Davis has over thirty-five thousand students, there is not going to be anyone looking after you, besides yourself. It is easy to fall by the wayside if you do not have the personal motivations or friends by your side. One of my favorite aspects of UC Davis is how the city is structured to be as bike-friendly as possible. Even the amateur-cyclist will feel safe biking around the town (but definitely brush up on your bike etiquette aka know how to signal). Overall, UC Davis is a wonderful university that will surely give you a renowned education and memories that you will cherish for a lifetime."

"The rigorous academics and various opportunities provided by UC Davis has opened a plethora of doors for me to pursue a career in medicine. I was able to earn my Bachelors degree in addition to working as a firefighter and teach human anatomy off cadavers. The relationships that I developed at UC Davis will forever be valuable assets as I work towards my future goals and aspirations as a physician."

"UC Davis is an incredibly challenging but amazing school. I just graduated, and I miss it already. The people here are amazing, and I've made some of the best friends I've ever had here. Once you get through your GE requirements you will meet some incredible professors and have some amazing classes. As interesting as everything is, its a lot of work to do well here. However, that's the point, it's college. Work hard, play hard, and graduate a cut above anyone else in your field."

"I loved the environment on UC Davis's campus and surrounded city. Personally I could not have picked a better school to attend for my undergraduate and I feel extremely fortunate to have been accepted. It is a huge university so if you are looking for one on one support or feel lost in crowds of people, I don't recommend attending UCD. Undergraduate courses were tough, they seem to exist to scare off students who are not 100% ready to fight to learn. But I enjoyed my major classes very much and wish that students were able to take major courses earlier on in their academic career. Professors who teach upper division classes are inspirational and excited about their field, but professors who teach lower division courses and their Teaching Assistants really drop the ball. Often it felt like they didn't want to be there or they didn't care if their students did well. The friendly environment of the campus and surrounding community plus the huge network I was placed into help outweigh negatives I experienced at UCD. Make sure to join a club or organization so you don't get lost in the sea of people. Pick a field you feel ready to fight through so lower division classes don't destroy your spirit. Trust me the upper division courses will make you fall in love with your field! Within the health fields there are huge numbers of opportunities to get experience. There are internships at the med center, research positions, lab jobs, supportive faculty, and nation wide conferences on campus. Work hard and you'll enjoy your time."

"UC Davis is a wonderful school that offers many classes for many majors. It's rigorous courses make it one of the best public universities around. It offers a lot of support for all of its students including counseling services for not only your major but also your future career. As a striving doctor I took a lot of advice from the health professions advising and became involved with many student run clinics and hospital internships offered by the school. I'm happy with the quality of education I received from UC Davis and the opportunities it gave me."

"The University of California, Davis provided me with applicable knowledge on a multitude of platforms. First, I was able to immediately begin research to discover what kind of science I take value in. From that point, by the end of my academic career I was in a very good position to know exactly what my future career pursuits actually meant. Going into industry is far different from pursuing a higher degree, and both are completely outside of teaching. Though different, all career paths were available to be explored in my education at UC Davis. Another fantastic aspect of my undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis was the access to interacting with some of the leading minds in various scientific fields. While in my undergrad I was able to dialog with the leading minds in Evolutionary Biology, Feline Genetics, Population Genetics and Nutritional Genomics. Brilliantly enough I was also able to learn the best science I know from interning and working in their labs. Through these experiences at UC Davis I was able to understand that the world, both academic and personal, truly is one's oyster."

"College was a great experience for me. I learned more about myself as a person but also my academic interests. It is important to take advantages of the many opportunities each college has to offer. I worked in a research lab which helped me get exposure to the research world and learn more about my areas of interest in the science field. My experience in the research lab helped me after graduating and will forever change my future."

"UC Davis is a well-rounded, public university in a small, supportive community. The biological sciences degree provides a solid general education in the field of biology, as well as some specialization in a chosen "area of emphasis". I emphasized in plant biology and was impressed by the professors, staff, and available resources. As the school has grown, even more resources have been made available to new students to enhance the quality of student life. The biological sciences major is an excellent starting point for new students who aren't sure what they want to study, but would like a solid science education."
